The 2nd card looks great. Like can barely hear anything when you pause and then unpause it. Something barely noticeable, but perfectly acceptable. Where can I buy that card?

Its from one of the big competitors. But oddly they removed listings for the 4090 Suprim and Trio this morning. Someone messaged them and they replied they have "discontinued" it because its not available from their supplier anymore.
Loool. I just realised not only have I watched all of those videos, but I've also spoken to you on YouTube about this card before we started speaking on the forum.

Nope. However that may be because I just realised it was someone else's video (same topic) I commented on not yours lol. I have seen yours though when I was seeing if anyone else had coilwhine issues with that card.
Yeah I was only joking anyways I'm not really confrontational lol. It was nice to actually put out a positive video about the subject today for once!

Do you know when MSI started producing the stock of the new Suprim X better batch?
Someone on ebay selling an MSI Suprim X 4090 stated it is new and was purchased form MSI Store on January 30, 2023.
Does that sound new enough to be the better batch where maybe coil whine was fixed?
Though LMatt you state you think yours is one of the newer batch of MSI Suprim X cards and it has too much or very bad coil whine?

I don't know to be honest. Arnt you better off just buying through that store with warranty than off ebay? If MSI are selling them direct you'd think chances are good.

Where were you buying your cards that let you return them for coil whine? The retailer I bought from would want to test it, I just know they'll say it's ok and decline a return, so I can't be bothered to go through all the hassle. I should have bought from the biggest retailer in the planet who have a no questions asked returns policy!
I recently bought a 4090 Suprim X, it has the serial number in the same place as yours (so new batch) and I've got a coil whine.
I think it's luck of the draw, and also dependant on load. If someone's gaming at over 200fps they're gonna hear it far more than someone playing a game at 60fps.
One thing I noticed that's far more annoying than coil whine is a resonance/vibration from the shroud at certain rpm. I've noticed a fair few videos appearing on youtube. Here's a video demonstrating the noise.
I've found it goes when pushing the shroud. It also seems to go back a few generations with the suprim X, there were videos of the 30 series suprims suffering with the same issue.

Well if you buy from Amazon, they allow returns up to 30 days and their 3rds party sellers have to comply. I also have a local Micro Center in the United States in Michigan that has a generous return policy.
NewEgg often allowed returns, but now I found out they changed today only if unopened and if opened they can only replace with the same item, so I had order immediately cancelled asd I need return ability as eveyy 4090 card I have had has had too much coil whine, though none were as awful as the horros stories of hearting it on the other side of wall. But all were way way too loud with side panel off and easily audible through closed case even if game sound mostly drowns it out. I will not be happy until I can get 4090 with the faint and hush coil whine my 3090 Ti had at 200FPS or less.
And how bad is the coil whine on your new Suprim X compared to Gigabyte Gaming OC and PNY?
And what kind of case,power supply, and motherboard do you have?

As my northen relatives would say, ee by gum and heck as like. If it's the place I'm thinking of they pulled that stunt with me for a barebones system that having waited 8 months to arrive "was discontinued and no longer possible to order" when three of their direct competitors had received stock, were shipping them (to relatives of mine, and for less money than I'd paid), and with those other stores having plenty more on order (confirmed by some serious order paperwork too that I got to peruse while discussing minutiae of specs with their sales rep. We had to scan through the actual manufacturer shipping notes and wholesale listings to find the information, it was quite involved). TLDR I got one from the other place, and saved £15 in the process. The first store who I'm itching to name just to slate them, but won't due to the rules here, are now on my blacklist. The place i bought it from? Still has stock and is still able to order them. "Discontinued" is a cop out lazy excuse from a store who doesn't want to fulfill orders/honour original pricing/is too lazy/<insert other dismal reason>

I wouldn't say it's bad, I've had cards far worse. The only card I've had that didn't have any coil whine of any kind was a 1080Ti from Palit years ago.
To put a bit of context on the 4090 I have, if you're familiar with coil whine on PS5 consoles, they're far worse. I appreciate that the whine on PS5's is from the power supply but just using the noise a reference point.
I'm using a Define 7 XL, AX1600i and Z790 Apex.

This is my experience too. Below 200 fps on 3070 and 3090 nothing noticeable. Run a laptop 3dmark test by mistake and the FPS crank to crazy levels, and hello coil whine.

That's how my Gigabyte Gaming OC 3090 Ti was. Only annoying coil whine at 300 or higher FPS. Otherwise almost inaudible through my case under any load.
Every 4090 I have tried modestly to far worse buzz/whine than 3090 Ti. Very disappointed.

I am not at all familiar with PS5 whine as never had one. But I have heard horror stories about it being bad.
And you have a Fractal Define 7 XL. That's like the most sound proof case and still whine on newer batch Suprim X. Not a good sign of it being any better and Hostile18 just hit jackpot probably.
Sounds like a terrible experience. Ah well I did receive mine. It was a day after that that the supply that had 6 Suprims and 10+ Trios went to discontinued suddenly. They had the vest price at the time so it is possible they were bought in bulk.

Well this is a 4k card predominantly. I can't imagine many 4k games with 300+ fps.
All my cards apart from this last one were limited to 120fps and still whined. In my experience it was load (wattage) that affected it, not fps with the 4090 cards.
