1440P seems to be a hard wall for me, monitor size on a desk vs usable resolution and practical visual differences determine that 4K is just not worth it ever not even the closest future, factoring impressive technology improvements such as OLED and such, they are absolutely not worth the extra money it will cost to run a GPU that can output the proper visual quality in video games, ala 4090 and above.
Money now has more meaning and value due to the circumstances, this stuff is now left for those who either have zero responsibilities or upkeep to pay for, or are super well off.
I cut my losses with the 6900 XT and have accepted I won't be able to push the best RT in all new games, but I will get amazing performance for the money at 1440P 166hz.
Sold my 3070 off and the final cost of my upgrade is just 150 quid.
I agree. I think unless you're going big screen, 1440p on a 27'' screen or so is the sweet spot.
I personally think OLED is a gigantic increase in PQ and better than what a GPU upgrade can provide. It doesn't require a new GPU to have significantly better contrast and HDR performance.
Agreed, a 4090 is for the super well off. I would not have entertained buying one a few years ago at all.
Its sad that someone can come to PC gaming with a budget of £1000-£1500 and be told they are at the entry level range to anything which will better the consoles substantially.
