4090 price going up?

In America the Suprim is plus $100 dollars over the FE. Here it is plus +£520.

There are rumors Nvidia is charging board partners more for the PCB but this much, hard to believe.

It's greed by retailers, everfything is more expensive here.

As for OCUK, with GPU's they'll do a great deal every now an then to be fair to them, but the rest of the time it's easy to find cheaper elsewhere.

I'm interested to know why consumers are paying these prices rather than getting a next-gen console for more than half the price in some cases.

Is there THAT much difference between PC an console? I dont think there is.

can you pay on credit with founders, when bought my last FE, didnt give me the option, though if interest free, then i can see the point, you be a complete idiot to buy with interest bearing:cry:
You can get credit card with 0% promotional period and buy FE card.
I got a new credit card with 22 months interest free and no commission to get my 4090 FE.
I did this not because I couldn’t afford paying outright but to put the money in my savings account so I earn interest on it.

yep totally, i always use interest free cards or interest free credit, only interest i ever paid was my car loan from bank was a mighty 2.6% like 5yr ago

It's a tough sell outside of edge cases I'd say, PC gaming still offers the best experience, but with rising costs, terrible ports that etc, that advantage has been eroded. Hard for many not to think "I'll just pay £500 all-in and be good to go. I think many PC gamers have migrated already. As things stand I can't see me ever building a new system from scratch evey five years like I used to ever again, it will be more draw evey ounce out of a platform (as I am currently doing with AM4) rather than just buying a new platform near launch. I think many have said "no thanks" to AM5 for that reason, the costs/benefit ratio was abysmal going from AM4 to AM5.

GPU prices are insane all the way down the stack and it is no wonder people have just noped out, just by looking at one component.

Well the ASUS STRIX 4090 OC was selling only recently for £1649.99 at one retailer and other models in the £1450 range so tells you enough what the profits are at some retailers... Just a huge scam now.

Well when you can buy a ps5 disc version with MW3 now for £409 direct from Sony and £400 at other retailers for same bundle it says enough, the console ends up £330 at the MW3 game is £70.. So you get a machine that can game and play 4k movies too... can pcs do that now for the price ?

PC retailers, pc component makers and sellers will soon be out of the PC gaming business at this rate... they are shooting themselves in the foot so no pity for them..

I keep looking at this and then at the money I have tied up in PC's and wondering what am I doing

To be fair the reason I switched is having access to pretty much every game on one platform. All the classic games we have that consoles have lost as they have gone on. Plus no subscription and games are substantially cheaper. £69.99 vs £34 often lol. Plus my PC is also a media machine.

Is easy to forget a super powerful GPU is optional. Pretty sure you could have an amazing time on PC with pretty much anything. But yeah the entry level cost of console is amazing.

Very much so. There are thousands upon thousands of great games you can play on a very modest PC setup, both natively and via emulation. I could never go back to consoles simply because you're so limited in terms of what games you have access to. I spend most of my time these days playing older stuff anyway, and am currently working my way through Digital Devil Saga.

Since when is life about buying the cheapest crap?

There is a reason expensive phones, TVs and other devices are dominating. People are more than happy to pay for better stuff even for e-peen alone.

I wouldn't say anyone is happy about it, big business are very good at upselling and convincing people something is affordable by charging them monthly, whilst the overall cost is much higher than they would ever pay outright. I wouldn't say dominating either, I can't think of a single other person who would pay over £1k for a TV other than me. Maybe I just know savvy buyers ;)

You pay over 1k for a TV someone else pays over 1k for a phone and some others pay 1k for a handbag and don't even get me started on cars. The vast majority of people splash out in one area at least.

I've said before that I've gone off console gaming, mainly due to lack of UW support and modding.

However, the way pricing of PC components (mainly GPU) keeps rising, I may consider this when the next-gen consoles appear.
I’m thinking the same.
£400 per console is more palatable every 7 years.
I don’t fancy spending £1000 every 4 years on a gpu just to play games and bit of word processing lol.

Everything is going up in price, including the consoles. And if you want GamePass or PSN Plus on top of that too.......

4090FE out of stock again, I see no one is buying the 4080 much LOL.

They really screwed up on the pricing, even if the intention was to shift Ampere stock, the 4090 would sell at almost any price while the 4080 not so much - it is an £800 card at best.

At this stage, 4080 not even worth 800 tbh, maybe 700 at a push
