4090 price going up?

If the 4080 super is anything to go by, it should go down.

But then this is ngreedia we're talking about... so no probably not
How would it go down? The 4090 price getting raised should leave a bigger gap where super can be slotted in without the need to lower prices, however if it keeps going up then NV could justify raising price of 4080 vanilla and super.

The rumours were it was supposed to replace the 4080 price point slotting into the 1200 mark and the 4080 OG would drop down to maybe 999. That's how it probably would work or was rumoured to anyway.

Slotting it between the 1200 and 1500 mark doesn't make much sense to me, cos for that price you may as well just pay that little extra and get the 4090.

The 4090 raise isn't the MSRP, it's retailers raising the price due to limited supply.
The 4080 and below should drop when the supers come out as they can't use retailer inflation of the 4090 as a guide to the 4080 MSRP

Although that's what they did when they released the entire 4000 series after the 3000 series ridiculous retailer inflation

They ain’t going to raise 4080 prices, they’ve barely sold any as it is and it’s already the worse priced non flagship card ever released by Nvidia.

What happened when the 3080 12gb came out in relation to 3080 10gb prices- absolutely nothing. Prices didn’t go down on the 10gb model and the msrp for 12gb model was the previously scalped price of the 10gb model at £1000.

12gb model never really had an msrp, it was available for around £800 though after the crash.

That was well after the crash ie in 2022.

In 2021 the 12gb model was £1000 mostly.
Before the crash all sense went out the window and it took a while for prices to normalise after.

Nvidia priced the 4080 like we were still in a crypt boom which is why sales have been very poor.

besides the 3080 12 and 10gb were a higher class of card than a 4080, they were using the top tier die and about 5-10% behind a 3090 while the 4080 has a gap of 30% to the 4090 so is more like a suped up 3070ti successor.

If Nvidia release a 4080 super on the AD103 it’s DOA unless it’s priced £800 imo, if it comes out on a 102 then that makes it interesting but if it ends up being £1200 then I don’t think it will sell well either with what will be a year until the RTX5000 and most people with that sort of cash having upgraded already.

The 4090 China ban is back on the table boys

Also, word is the US government plans stop $5 billion of pre orders of Nvidia AI chips to China. Nvidia share price down 20%

Maybe Nvidia will be able to finally offload all the 4080s that no one wants to China now unless they don’t want them either.

Someone(s) is buying 4090s that is for sure - I don't know specific details aside from what I can see moving on the system but we had a load through work never even touched the ground - shipped straight to the customer(s) instead of retail. (EDIT: Though possible it was a retailer to retailer transaction or even a return to manufacturer though that seems unlikely).

Frustrating as at the moment as I've got an itch to upgrade but don't need a 4090 and 4080 is the minimum worthwhile jump over my existing GPU but no way I'd pay more than about £800 for one absolute max.

no restrictions on 4080s to china.
The people don't want them either. :D
I guess they will soon... Prices of 4090s on used market have been all over the place, but definitely higher than they were. Even the 3090 is about 250 quid more on average than they were 2 months ago.

The badly priced 4080 probably will seem good when it's all you can get (on the nvidia side).
