"4870x2 reviews thread"

Ok but what are we looking for ?

Anand's results is saying the 280 gets 60.2 fps whereas Sampa's results gets 82 max fps. Anand is recording maximum fps. Sampsa was also using a lower clocked cpu (E8500) and get's more fps at that res, so Anand may have some driver issues or something which could lead to more discrepancies at 2560x1600.

Obviously the X2 kicks ass in GRID though :)

The massive differences between cards at 1920 x 1200.

GTX280 Amandtech 60.2 fps, Plaza 68.6fps which seems fair enough as the Plaza spec machine may be better spec or using different drivers

However reversed result with the 4870 with Amandtech getting 73.7 and Plaza 66.9 fps

The biggest difference of course is the 4870x2, Amandtech gives it 95.6 fps yet Plaza only get 75.6 fps.

Amandtech showing a 25%+ better result for the ATI cards, yet a 10%+ worse scores for the Nvidia cards.

Anybody know if they were both using the same drivers?

Looks good at this early stage, im just gutted it launches after im back from the states :(

another month of driver tweaking will be ideal hopefully. shame that guru didnt get their card as i always enjoys reading their views

Looks like a great card - but Im not so sure its going to have as big a gap as two 4870 cards in Xfire

Looking for a 30" tft so this or 2 4870's will do me nicely :D

there still making the drivers for this card arent they? so its probably not tuned very well... i dont bother relying on these reviews because cards always seem a lot better when they come out with decent drivers!

Anyone think a Gigabyte Odin 800w PSU would be able to handle two of these?

I might get 2 if it can just to see what crossfire with it would be like.

But I think me E6850 might hold me back a bit.

mh i dont think so on load one of those can hit 400+w recommended is 1000 w

Bugger. Well it's still a while off release

Maybe the power usage will drop by the time it's out :P

Although isn't the 400w total system? if so and the card itself draws at about 290-300w.

I "might" be able to pull it off :D
