4k HDR TV selection - rather baffled!

Not sure mate, I know a few people who got the KS7000 bought an alternative stand from Richersounds. Believe they sell a generic one which will fit it.

Can get another stand off amazon too for around £40, although it detracts from the design tbh.

There are two versions of Grand Tour on Amazon Video, one is normal and other is the 4K Ultra one. If you search you'll find both. You'll know if it's receiving HDR as the backlit in your settings will goto 20.

You'll also find plenty of HDR content to try it out on the inbuilt YouTube app, just search HDR on YouTube.

Selected that version, the info bits that show on screen show it's playing HDR, but still states 1080p..!

Looks absolutely cracking though. The only weird thing is the Amazon Prime TV logo screen has some horrible swirling on its background (black but not black, mostly grey and swirly) but the blacks in actual shows look thoroughly, thoroughly black. No greying. Most peculiar.

Odd - When i play mine it says "Ultra HD" when i pause in bold, not sure if it shows 1080p or something at the start as it's upping resolution in line with connection?

If your TV is showing "HDR" in the info then it means you'll be receiving a HDR signal.

Yeah think i had the grey swirling on the logo as it loads for me, think that's just an app issue / the actual background resolution being low for the loading page.

I'll take a photo of it and post it here. It makes no sense!

Good to hear I'm not alone on the Amazon background. Hardly an issue, but when I first fired it up, it got alarm bells ringing.

So it now shows Ultra HD sometimes, but never HDR..! Might it be the Samsung Amazon app that shows different informaiton to other makes?

A separate issue with this TV is that I'm noticing increasing backlight bleed in the bottom left hand corner. It's remarkable how something so theoretically insignificant just draws my eye to it. I now look there in scenes to see if it's bleeding through, which is a bit daft, but hard not to when I know it's there.

Is this a common issue with the KS7000 series? Not sure whether to bother contacting Richer Sounds about it and seeing what they can do. It's hard to prove it's there as it's not always bleeding through in all dark scenes, but I did double my budget to buy a TV that'll last hopefully for 4+ years.

Are you watching it through the App on the TV? As soon as I load the grand tour 4k, the TV says "HDR content now playing" in a grey box at the top.

I've also experienced the issue you mention above where it cycles between 1080 and Ultra HD.

Nope, no message stating 'HDR content now playing' - and yes, the inbuilt app in the TV. Not downloaded/added anything extra or using an external box. Most peculiar.

My KS7000 comes up with a notification of when HDR content is playing in the Amazon App also when a new title starts through the inbuilt App. Infact the message pops up for most HDR content, even going onto the main UI page of the Xbox one S for example.

Not seeing any glow issues on my panel either as such.

Just picked up a 49DX8099, not getting the reviews saying the blacks are no good. They look pretty darn good to me, and that's coming from a (10 year old) pioneer plasma. I followed one of the AVS forum guides on custom settings and liking it so far (probable tweak it a bit).

Only bad thing I have to say about it is the Satellite tuner. Picks up all of the freeview channels using an old Sky dish, however the Sony does not have a Freesat EPG. So you do not get a full list of programs, only gives you info once you select the channel. Only found that out after purchase.

Looking to sign up for the free month Netflix Premium, what are peoples opinions on content? Is it worth it?
