5090 Price

Something like that. But don't forget all that extra vram which turned out to be very important.
Same thing is going to happen again. Considering the 5080 will be out for at least two years or a little more, then the lack of VRAM is going to be an issue again. If it had 20GB, then it would have been fine.

Man the 3090ti is actually a brutal card.

It’s surprising they ever released it really. The power draw was immense and it was insanely expensive. I don’t really feel sorry for anyone that bought one though, it was obvious it was going to be exceeded in every way by the incoming generation.

I honestly think a lot of posters here would spend like 800 bucks more on 10% performance as long as it was the top dog of the stack

Thing is with the 5090 you get DOUBLE the vram over the next product in the stack. That’s not a small thing at all.

The 2080ti was so underwhelming too but at least it had a couple years of bragging I think?

I feel the huge problem the RTX 2080ti had was that the 1080ti very high performance and 11GB of vram was well ahead of it time
(And then you also had the crazy Price difference between the 2080ti vs 1080ti)

I Also wonder if the CPU's that were used to test the RTX 2080ti in reviews in them days were holding it back

If they're not launching the 5090 and 5080 at the same time, I suppose they might just announce the 5080 pricing tomorrow, which would give them some time to decide whether the market really would accept a $2500+ 5090...

I was being sarcastic tbf. The extra performance and vram were never worth the asking price. As I recall it was just FC6 with its optional texture pack and maybe one other crappy AMD sponsored game that I don't remember that made use of the extra vram.

Then then the 4000 series came out and most of the people who got the 3090 upgraded to the 4090 anyway

You don’t think the 5080 will offer 30% more performance than the 4080? I’d be surprised.
Depends on clock speed, the shader uplift for the 5080 seems very similar between the 3080>4080 but the 4080 had a 50% clock speed increase which would mean the 5080 needs to clock in at 3.7ghz to give it a similar +50% performance increase.

I think 25-30% is doable with a 3.2ghz clock though although no doubt Nvidia will be pushing some AI tech like FG to obscure the actual numbers.

Yes, I’m expecting there is some new processing wizardry that is going to get around ‘raw hardware stats’ making the difference and get the performance.

the specs dont add up somehow, i think it will be a marginal improvement over 4080 super, lets see how its priced
the fact theres no hype and we are so close to the reveal, no leaks, nothing, i feel this is going to be a big downer of all times
