5090 Price

My magic ball numbers before the reveal:

5090 $1899
5080 $999

What a time we live in when a base 80 card will look like a bargain at $1k.

AMD 9070 will be priced too high as usual. Probably $599.

I found it! It's this:

Comes with loads of attachments/hose/nice flat bristle bit that works great for PC case fan filter panels too.
I got the one that looks like a small watering can but by gawd can it blow.

But to stay on topic the flagship from NVIDIA is going up bi-yearly. Good thing that don’t release cards like they use to like every year or in some cases. Every 6 months with xx80 version and then xx80 ti.

my personal observation is that amd has been winning the price per frame war for a few generations now, since maybe the vega 64. I regret going nvidia this gen, didn't want to miss out on dlss/raytracing/frame gen - literally never used any of them in anger

edit: also your prices seem hopelessly optimistic, although I'm rooting for them

As is tradition since... well, Riva-Voodoo days, I went back and forth between nV and AMD this gen. I started with a 7900xtx, then 4080 Super (for $%$£s and giggles), then 4090. I offloaded my 4090 Strix last month for a good amount and am now using my "back up" 6950xt. My experience this gen can be summarized by two broad points which have been constant across the past few generations, but particularly acute with this one: 1) materially reduced returns in improved experience above £900, 2) dlss/RT/frame gen have near-zero impact in actual in-game enjoyment. I expect these points to hold even more true with this upcoming gen. Honestly, I should have just stuck with the 7900xtx from the get go -- lots of mulah wasted for curiousity's sake.

Thanks for sharing. I probably ought to take stock of this. Re: 5090 I’m really not sure it’s worth £1k for the sake of playing a few games with a high texture pack…!

I was playing Helldivers 2 yesterday on my 3090. I got above 100fps with DLSS on at 4k and for that sort of game it was absolutely fine, still looked great. Do I really need more… it would be nice, but probably not increasing the actual enjoyment I get from the game!

My $999 price is my guess based on 4080 not selling at $1200 and needing a price cut with the supers to sell and the 5080 only having 16gb vram.

It will also give Nvidia a lot of goodwill with gamers as people expect sky-high pricing and people will be praising Jensen when he is taking it out of his oven lol.
