550 Core Unlock Problem

Dude you should keep quiet about that kind of thing or b3mor might just track you down and nick your cpu! :D

:p
tri vs quad: what are you using it for? If you are worried about energy consumption maybe try it on tri for a while at the lowest vcore you can get it stable on and then just see if that meets your needs. If it is too slow go for the quad.

By this I mean how can I run it in tri core mode? If I select hybrid and enable ACC it unlocks to quad so as far as I can see I only have the option to choose between dual or quad. I'd like to try it out in tri core mode but i'm not sure how i'd go about setting it up correctly to work as a tri core. Anybody know?

I thought only Asus offered this option of running 3 cores..

I think it's the ACC core calibration on the same bios page where you set ACC to Hybrid.

I could be wrong (I'd welcome any ideas on what ACC actually does) but try setting it to manual and have one core at a time to Zero instead of a positive/negative number.

I think it depends on your mobo.

On my one underneath the ACC option there is a 'per core' option which allows you to select from the two different 3 core options (1,2,3 & 1,2,4). I dont think all mobos will allow this.

You can always go the software route for getting Tri Core....

Just set number of processors to 3 in advanced boot options and restart.

Of course this is only useful if Core 4 is the faulty one, as it turns cores off in reverse order..does that make sense.....:)
