5800x to 5800x3D?

Amazing if those £130 5700X3D's are legit, especially considering I sold my 5700X used for £130 on the Bay (during a 0 fee period) a few months ago.

Personally I suspect those cheap Chinese X3D's are as likely to be as genuine as this is an iPhone 15 Pro.

You can look at the feedback and reviews posted from others

Had a look. Reviews are like "good processor", "happy with performance", "the delivery was appropriately fast"

Most detailed review for a 5700X3D I could see on the site was:

"The packaging is a bit anxious, but it came well and hwinfo see PbO2 apply CPU voltage-0.5 well-operated game performance is good but before 5700x clock I am glad to buy it at a good price."

Hardly reassuring it's a real 5700X3D.

...Have you bought anything from ali before?

A Lenovo phone simcard tray (costing like £1.50) and later I think an LCD screen for a Chinese brand phone (costing a lot more).

Why you ask?
You seem awfully confident that the CPU's are fake or that there must be something wrong with them. I've bought several CPU's, RAM kits and headphones from there and it's always been fine.

The only potential issue I could see is if you had to claim warranty on something beyond the 30 day MBG, CPU's are a fairly safe bet though.

I can find reviews posted with benchmarks , the risk you'll be taking if it goes faulty and how they will handle it

5800x3d appears to be around 4-8% faster than the 5700x3d but 50% more expensive. Both would perform better than the 5800x in gaming.
I have a feeling the 5800x3d is binned better and would benefit from curve optimiser bringing down the temps and maintaining boost speeds but the price difference is just not worth it.

Waiting on a credit card and think I'll order a 5700x3d to replace the 5600x I have.

Similar. Ordered a 5700x3d for 126. Already got a 5600 so it'll be a minor upgrade I presume. Should arrive by the 2nd

5600x vs 5700x3d with a RTX 4090.

Anything less than a 4090 and I'm guessing the gains won't be as big in some places but should be a generally decent uplift. Really surprised just how good the 3D cache is given the clock differences of 600mhz.

Good to know. I do plan to upgrade to a 4080 super or something of that level in future, which was part of the reason for upgrading the CPU. That and how crazily cheap it was.

Found another review but with a 4070Ti

Performance gains still substantial.

Apologies, kind of slightly took the thread off the original topic....but in a round about way, 5800x3d would be a good upgrade over the 5800x, 3D cache is just too good.

...I also like the braindead overclocking of putting -30 in 8 boxes and hit apply in windows.
My B450 allowed curve optimizer in the BIOS which seems to not be the case for all boards and X3Ds ?

-25 actually sets it to -20 (using PBO2 tuner in windows to check) and -30 sets fine, weird.
Can't get my RAM quite as high though, using a mix of 2933 and 3200 I could go 3333 CL16 on my 5600 but the 5700X3D only seems happy at 3200 at CL17 I think.

I'd caution against using those benchmark youtube videos that seemingly manage to test every CPU/GPU/game combination but never show any actual hardware. Most are fake.

@BUDFORCE

Got my 7800X3D installed this weekend, upgrading from a 5900X and with a 3080 and in PUBG, It's NOT worth it.

5900X- AVG FPS 210 0.1% 144
7800X3d- AVG FPS 209 0.1% 142

seems PUBG does not benefit from 3D cache.

my 5900X was running a minus CO and the RAM was highly tuned, the 7800X3d system is stock with 6000Mhz CL30 RAM
