5800x to 5800x3D?

The 5700x3d seems to be available even cheaper now, I wonder if that will filter through to the UK pricing? Seems like a no brainer for gamers on AM4

The one thing to note from the 'express' site is it's just the CPU and not in the official box (and presumably with less of a warranty as it's not mentioned anywhere but should have 90 days to return).

This is my main worry, while I have never had a CPU fail still seems a bit of a risk

Its a marketplace so there are different sellers but broadly it's much safer than it seemingly used to be.
Again though warranty is my personal concern. £190 from OCUK with the 3yr warranty is still (IMO) a good value part.

I think warranty (however real that is) is 90 days, so yeah it's a gamble but the price different makes it worth it for some, me included.

I went from 5800x to 5800x3d and couldn't be happier. Does seem a strange upgrade, but totally worth it for me.

Had some micro stutters in vr, and in troubleshooting lots of people said to upgrade to the x3d. Thought it would be a waste of money, but it did indeed get rid of them :D

I went from 5600x which in most games etc. isn't much off a 5800x to a 5700x3d (about 85+ % of the 5800x3d performance but nearly £100 cheaper) and the difference is pretty spectacular. The big difference is in the stability of the frame rates overall and 1% lows but in some games I have seen 25-30fps jumps in general, for the outlay and not having to move from AM4 it's quite the sweet spot

There’s only about a 5% difference between the 5800X3D and 5700X3D,

Overall probably yeah, but there are some swings to 10% due to the lower frequency of thr 5700X3D for games where that matters (F1 I think?)

Edit: HUB found it 4% slower than the 5800X3D on average over their test games at 1080p

Given the cheapest 5800X3D I can see new is around £280 while a new 5700X3D import for £126 or retail for around £190 I just don’t see chasing that extra 4% as value for money and would be better put towards just going with AM5.

Absolutely, the 5800X3D prices seem crazy in comparison and I'd also be going AM5 rather than spend £280 on one.
My upgrade from a 5600 to 5700X3D (if I can sell this 5600) will be approx £70/£80 which I'm happy with.
