£5k Budget, help please.

Yes you have, you said he is a troll for offering his opinion which he is quite within his right to do so. I don't want to hear anymore of it.

Wow, how immature and hypocritical.

Have a go at him saying it's not trolling because it's just an opinion. Then suspend him because you don't agree with his opinion. Nice one!

5k? wow and i thought my rig was getting expensive... As for the talk on the Samsung screens i currently own the 27" version of that screen and it is amazing. I would highly recommend it however the 2d-3d is nothing more than an accessory to me personally. You will use it 1-2x but the colors do get dulled down and for myself personally i don't like to be able to notice the shutters on the glasses like i can at times.

A persons opinion is what they are entitled to wether there opinion is wrong or right regarding the facts of the matter, some people fail to get this principle into heads,OCUK has always had this mentality with what your referring to Mason, thats why i only read and dont post here unless i feel the need to share my knowledge.

We won't tolerate people who call people trolls purely because their opinion on a completely benign subject isn't the same as theirs. Ultimately he wasn't even suspended for voicing his opinion.

Well I disagree with you. He shouldn't be suspended for what he's said in this thread. Go step in the GFX forum and you'll suspend loads of people for things on that level. The way you said "I don't want to hear anymore of it" is just ridiculous. You are a don, but you are also a member of this forum. If someone who was a member just said to you I don't want to hear anymore of it it's not up to him. You stopped a discussion purely because you disagreed with him and because you're a don you have the power to stop it. It's unfair and ridiculous. You should only use your powers in that way if he's breaking the rules. I don't think he was.

Anyway this is off topic and I don't want to discuss it in here anymore I'm just voicing my opinion. If you have anything to add feel free to contact me in my trust email. Thanks.

lol it does feel like there is different rules in different parts of the forum, this section seems quite strict, other sections not so much :o

I see people keep going for dual 690's... Honestly, how reliable/good is quad SLI (which it basically is with a pair of dual GPU cards)? I would have thought a pair of 680's or even a pair of 7970's is a safer bet when it comes to compatibility and efficiency? It's not like they're slow anyway :). Also, i wouldn't even touch the 2GB GPU's for a multi monitor setup and definitely wouldn't spend £800 on an i7 CPU for a GAMING rig .

If i had 5k to blow on a PC, i'd spend around 3k and save the rest for another build or newer GPU's 3 years down the road (technology moves too fast to spend 5k on a gaming rig all in one go ;)).

Wow thanks a lot guys, so much to check on. Only just got home from work and had a skim through the whole thread since I last posted and must say this threads advice and another I have elsewhere I am swaying towards dual 7970, banking the money saved and looking at next gen cards when they appear maybe.

Also someone who thought I was trolling a bit, I am not at all I am in the process of selling my house and moving, so will have a reasonable amount of spare cash available, and as I spend so much time on my PC figured why not blow some on a top notch PC, the one I have now was around £1200 when I built it and has lasted my a good 5-6 years and is only now starting to struggle, if I can repeat that with this one I see that as a good investment considering the amount of hours enjoyment it will give me.
