6 years old too young for Terminator 2?

Jaws messed me up as a kid, the bit where the head pops out from under the boat with the eyeball hanging out :(

I was in Poland over the summer holidays as a child. I was about 6 and my mother left me with my Cousin who was a teenager. She took us to her friends house in the evening to watch a movie. It was Jaws and was about the only thing I had seen that wasn't dubbed in Polish so I instantly got drawn to it.

I wouldn't go swimming in the lakes for the rest of my holiday after that one. Mother wasn't best pleased!

I think scene in E.T. where the government men come into the house in space suits had the biggest impact on me as a child. No amount of Mac and Me could undo that.

100% would not let a 6 year old watch the full version of T2, or any film 15 rated for that matter.
Saying this I do remember watching Aliens, commando, predator, etc but not until I was at least 12 and also recorded from the TV with adverts, where they cut most of the gruesome scenes to save time.
I remember watching the full uncut version of T2 at around 15, and it was like watching a new film with a lot of the scenes I'd not seen before.

I've just introduced "Willow" to my 6-year-old daughter, and she found some of the scenes scary, maybe she's a wuss, but I don't like the idea of desensitising kids at this age.

D.A.R.Y.L messed me up, where he gets put in the transport container thing.

Oh and Superman 2, where the woman gets dragged into the machine and turned into a robot.

Nightmares for weeks.

Lol I remember going to Spain, just me and mum, about a week after my brother watched he. He never 'cared' for me like you'd imagine a big brother would be, but I was almost in a blood promise not to go near any water whilst away lol.

T2 would probably only be 12 rated these days.

Have they watched any of the avenger films? Age of Ultron is pretty much T2. Even back in the day they marketed Terminator 2 action figures for kids.

Not sure anyone really abided by age ratings tbh. The only people who ever seemed to enforce it was cinemas (sometimes).

I think this kind of question tells us we are on the way to Idiocracy. Intelligent people who could raise could children through solid parenting are going to be replaced by the types that spend their entire life on social media and let their offspring learn fundamentals from YouTube.

It's not even funny any more really. I honestly feel we are watching the downfall of society and it's not from a T2 style apocalypse. It's from thickos being unable to raise decent humans.

I guess the OP has achieved the attention he was going for.

Crap like this shouldn't even really be a question.

Any parent with a scrap of intelligence would make this decision without consulting the Internet.

Thickos raising dumb kids and then them being in charge of things. You can already see it.

If I maybe don't let him watch the bits where the liquid metal terminator stabs the foster father/mental hospital secretary guard.
I remember seeing this scene as a child myself(6/7).
Parents had it on VHS and little Sid found it and watched it in his room.
I didnt finish it, scared the absolute poo poo out of me.

Please dont show this to your child.

The reason its bad to show kids older movies is that it desensitizes them to what they see. Nightmares are the least of it.

Oh, and comparing T2 to End game is laughable, they're not even in the same league :D

As for Robocop, Murphys death scene is still traumatic for me now

The directors cut of Robocop is absolutely brutal even by todays standards, I'd consider letting a kid watch T2 (maybe skip some of the scenes) depending on the kid in question, but there's not a chance I'd show them Robocop.

The nuclear waste scene was nasty as hell too.

Go back and rewatch T2. It is quite tame really bar two scenes where the T1000 kills. People misunderstand it as a scary film because of what Terminator 1 was. Age of Ultron is basically the same script wise and there is more death in that! A man gets his arm chopped off too!

One thing this thread has shown is that many of us watched "scary" films as kids and none of us grew up to be psychopathic killers. Sometimes wrapping kids up in bubble wrap can be a negative too.
