64bit Android in the works.
Question.
Is the cpu in the Nexus 5 64bit capable?
What are the advantages of a 64bit processor in a mobile? Ability to address more memory directly for apps?
I could be wrong but I wonder if this is one of those things like MP on cameras and resolution on screen used to move consumers to update. How long before we have 4K display on a 5" device?![]()

Nope.
Hmm. Will that mean that Android will have a 32bit and 64bit versions?
For example, I’m literally on the cusp of purchasing a Nexus 5. Would suck balls if it wasn’t upgradable to Android 5 or what ever is the next major revision!!
Considering iOS 7 is split into 32-bit (for the 5c and older iOS devices) and 64-bit (5s), it would suprise me if Android didn't follow suit. Plus it would give Google a bad image to drop support of their recent Nexus devices so quickly and could give a bad backlash from other manufacturers.

Huh, didn't realise it was that soon actually. This changes things. No point getting a new phone at all now if Q3 is when 64bit kicks off. Christmas 2014 is the time to upgrade![]()
