6700 XT Owners Thread

Backed right off from what I guess were rather aggressive settings for now. Seemingly stable with an undervolted overclock, so still doing well.

So what is the difference between gaming and boost clocks? Is boost just supposed to be for very short bursts?

Out of interest whats the opinion on the 6700xt Fighter correct me if wrong but looks like three RMA`s and a couple of unhappy users. Not a very good start and only 50 cards were up for grabs.

Was that how many were on sale? I thought Gibbo had 300 units?

I think one of them resolved by putting in PCIe 3, two of them had DoA cards.

Thought it was 2 RMAs? Which means it's better than what they were roughly getting before: https://wccftech.com/mindfactory-report-amd-gpus-fail-more-often-than-those-from-nvidia/ , and inevitably a higher percentage return.

Only 50 of these, 300 of a high end 6700xt to be released in the coming week I believe. This fits my budget and case better than a higher end card likely will, so works for me :D. Managed to undervolt and overclock too, so definitely not upset.

Well, for me, some games sure did see a benefit gta v and rdr2, some games not sure of but might be cpu based issues mafia remake still a little micro pausing when turning corners in cars, and x4 sorta but that needs a better cpu. I think the main thing i wanted was to try get rid of the hitching when moving camera around in games, i thought that infinity cache thing helped but doesnt look like it does much for that which is a shame. I guess its got good future proofing when i do manage to upgrade the rest of the system, i was thinking 3600 cpu setup but i dunno if thats gona be much faster compared to my existing cpu single core speed wise, i know it would be better in multi core games no doubt but some games like single core speed more if a lot of the game rides on the first core. The hunter call of the wild seems to really like the upgrade tho.

I'm delighted with mine TBH. I'll be replacing my 5700XT nitro + with it. I wasn't sure that the relatively minor performance bump would make up for downgrade in aesthetics but it really does. It's not a bad looking card just a bit bland and even when the fans kick in its not horribly loud. Overall I think it's decent.

Doom Eternal 4K maxxed, 100+fps.

Amazing.

Havent seen CPU go over 40% in any game yet, I assume cos of the high res. Might not need to upgrade the rest of the PC after all!

Not sure if mine is in that count, card itself functions fine and fairly pleased with the performance for the (in current times) price. Just the one I had buzzing under load did my head in.

So I've some mixed results testing games at 3440v1440p having gone from a Vega 56. I don't know if this is my Ryzen 2600 CPU or if there's an issue with the card

Assassin's Creed Odyssey - seem to be between 40-60fps (sometimes lower) - this is significantly below many 1440p benchmarks. It's better than with the Vega but I was expecting more

Battlefield 5 - seems to below 40-60 FPS with maxed out settings. Another poor result that is at odds with online benchmarks

Witcher 3 - seems to get 100-120fps, so a better result albeit on an older game

Rise of the Tomb Raider - hitting 80-90 FPS, seems a decentish result, I can't remember what I got on the Vega

Going to test Watch Dogs Legion next

That buzzing is a wire touching something that has a fan on, i had similar buzzing when i swapped my card over but it wasnt the gpu it was the wire on the side of my cpus hsf vibrating when it was in a certain place, i pushed it in a bit to the fans side gap or out i forgot which and the buzz when down. Well to me it sounded the same so maybe check ur fans cables see if they are vibrating not the gpu.

Pretty sure it'll be better in single core due to big improvements in ICP. AMD caught the fastest Intel CPUs with the 7nm 3000 launch

Definitely no wires touching anything - buzz comes direct from the GPU. To eliminate it being something to do with the mainboard/power supply tried it in my completely silent 6700k machine and same deal. I've had whine like this before on my 290x (but only when it was cold, not something it ever stayed very long ;)) but nothing as loud as this one.

Ah ok thats a shame then, as it defo to me sounded like when my cable which was suppose to be tightly attatched to side of fan on hsf was vibrating luckily just a bit of a nudge into the space in the fans side stopped it. Think it only happened cos of gpu swap somehow. But yeah er my 6700xt is quite enough to me, but i dont have great hearing tbh i usually need to turn volume up more than most. So maybe thats a blessing incase it is noisy really lol. It seems quieter than the vega 56 was tho. Especially coil whine wise, i mean in this if i see 500fps during a loading screen i dont hear a whine on this.

I have 3 120mm case fans, and a DH14 cooler so the rig is very quiet apart from a (not unpleasant) whoosh under load. I don't mind fan noise, but that sort of buzz is a buzzkill :) I think given all the cards I've had this is an outlier and doesn't sound indicative yet of the make of card itself.

I was the one that had PCIE gen issues as (maybe I should already have known?) my card is in a case riser (NZXT H1). So would've run into this issue with any gen4 card.

This. Can now take proper advantage of my 4K@120 55" Samsung TV that works with VRR.

Whats this PCI-E gen issue people are having?

Mine is in my P8Z68-V Pro. Thats PCI-E gen 2.0.
