6800XT

I'm not being sarcastic. I did something similar going from a £600 6800 XT to a £1070 6900 XT. We all use some mental gymnastics to justify a purchase.

If using Nvidia will make you happy, then go with that.

I'm here as a regular user, hardware enthusiast and gamer, nothing more.

So take your anger out elsewhere please.
Ah so you can dish it out (ie to @Dontrocktheboat belittling him for buying a 3090) but you can't take it in return.

I think I'll put you on ignore for a bit - the last thing I want to read right now is AMD cheerleading.

You don't realise how **** annoying it is to read somebody cheerleading for products that you can't even buy, and completely dismissing all valid criticism.

Also you DO work for AMD and you DO represent them here, whether you like it or not. Your posts are all pro-AMD and you often act sarcy to those with complaints about AMD.

And yes I'm angry. So are many of us. AMD have **** the bed this time. And the CES keynote was a **** take of the highest order. "Available now!" my arse. "AMD are solving Covid!" my arse. What a bunch of old cobblers. Lost the plot they have.

And yet AMD doesn't understand why people are buying nV if the AMD products don't even exist.

"Why you going nVidia? Why you spending more money? AMD better. AMD cards exist, honest. Look, "Available Now!" it says on this slide Lisa showed at CES..."

AMD GPUs are a joke right now. Deal with it.

And stop being sarcy at people who have supported your company in the past. We're frustrated as hell with your failure to deliver. And you're blaming that on us.

Leaves a bad taste in the mouth...

Exactly. I wanted to buy a 6900XT but couldn’t find one anywhere at launch or afterwards.

Only one’s I could find were at scalper prices, barely £200 less than a 3090FE. So I went for that instead as it appeared to run cooler/quieter, and the added bonus of RTX/DLSS that I can actually use now rather than possibly at some point this year when AMD figure out how to launch their equivalent.

It was a real shame as I wanted to buy AMD but it wasn’t to be.

Have just bought a 5950X though. :D

Calm down dears. Theres plenty to get upset about in the world, a GPU purchase is not one of them.

Can't get a graphics card with similar performance in most things for £600, so I'll spend £1400 instead.

#Logic

hehehehe :o:D

Talking about logic, you spent 500£ extra over you 6800xt to get a 6900Xt. Netting you about 5% performance increase.

£100 for ever 1% now that's logic! and you still cant game with RT!

Heh, I'm calm. But a representative of a company being sarcy to its customers, in order to deflect from their own failings is uniquely galling :p

10-12% perf increasin in GPU bound scenarios in games. Tested here.

I know I said as much a post or two later. I'm happy with my purchase though, are you? :p :)

Agree with foxeye.

Much prefer amd, better drivers on the whole these days (functionality and usability + design) imo and less shady practices than nvidia but:

- having being signed up to a couple of alert systems on dc, I seen far more 3080s coming into stock than 6800/6800xt more often and when amds card did/do come in to stock, they are well above their MSRP (so is nvidia but at least I could pick up a 3080 fe for £650 from nvidia)

- AMDs lack lustre ray tracing perf. and with nothing like DLSS on the horizon [still not a great solution though], ray tracing is nigh on unusable, not to mention, this puts any games with dlss way ahead for nvidia

- SAM being the main thing that gives amds cards their ahead perf. on the whole but nvidia are bringing this too so that could negate the advantage amd has, remains to be seen though!!!!

Sadly amds focus is the consoles though, they have to answer to sony and microsoft and make them the priority so it's understandable as ultimately consoles have a far larger market share than desktop gpu gaming.

I am happy mate, I paid RRP for my GFX card, which gives me all of features i want and performance to go with it.

Are you happy you overpaid for your 6900XT despite being an AMD employee? That's the question?

Good, I know you love a little jousting. :D

I'm happy, i used the money from selling the 6800 XT to go towards the 6900 XT.

Plus the free 5950X helped, as I was then able to put the money from the sale of my previous 3950X towards the GPU upgrade.

It may only be a 10-12% improvement in FPS switching from 6800 XT > 6900 XT, but i always wanted the full fat Big Navi, despite having to pay a bit extra to get it. Though it now looks a better deal as prices have increased further on OcuK.

The extra perf does help when trying to maintain 100-120 FPS in minimums in fast paced shooters like the COD series.

That's good, but you can see why people get frustrated with AMD? Cant you. Maybe feed it up the chain.

General lack of stock, one.
Two , very high MRSP increase over stock cards, with no gain. ( slapping a gigabyte sticker on the vanilla card ) and charging £200/£300+ quid is not on.
Three, lack of physical drops of vanilla cards on AMD site for its rated MRSP.

All the above are turning potential customers away every day.

It's no good sharing this feedback with me, being here is not my job and I do not represent AMD.

I'm just here for the hardware and love of tech in general, oh and benchmarks. Been a member here for almost 15 years.

I look at my 6900 XT as a investment.
Past 2 yrs AMD stock returned to myself 630%.Least I can do is reinvest:).

Christ, i love how RT is all of a sudden the 'Must have'! its still a bit of a gimmick for most people and it wont be mainstream for at least another generation or two.

You did the same thing, Mr 3090 :D
What £600 GPU? The one that doesn't exist? And won't exist? Because you aren't making them? Because the RRP was fake as hell and you don't really want to sell them at that price?

How stupid do you think we are?

The £600 6800XT is a unicorn fantasy.

I know you work for AMD, but rather than sniping at people who *want* to buy your products but can't, how about you fix the problems with your product delivery?

What do you want AMD to do? its not as if they are deliberately withholding supply, its not as if they are selling GPU's directly to Crypto Miners, eh?

They can only make as much stuff as TSMC can supply them wafers and their production is split between OEM SoC's, Console SoC's, Retail CPU's and Retail GPU's, if they could get more supply ,they would make more stuff and a lot more money because everyone, not just you is screaming at AMD for more supply.

Well last time AMD had stock it wouldn't let you buy it.
I kept getting errors that they couldn't ship to my address?

Why is there no pre order system? At this moment I'm happy to be scalped by an Etailer, I just need one to let me buy a card.

Yeah same, i'm waiting on an AIB 6800 that i like and is MSRP, i think i'm in for a long wait, unless Nvidia get to market first with a GPU that i like with more than 8GB of VRam i'll get that.

I love the CPU and Intel at this point are pointless but i really don't care whose GPU i get, they are both good.

Perhaps they are selling direct to miners. How would you know they aren't?

They also knew that this would happen. It wasn't an unforeseeable situation. They know their wafer supply agreements. They launched months after nVidia. They knew the demand situation.

They knew exactly what would happen. They made it deliberately worse by repeatedly insisting there would be stock and it wouldn't be a paper launch.

They basically lied out their asses, knowing what would happen but pretending it wouldn't. Probably for the shareholders as much as anyone.

They are trying to rebuild relationships with OEM's and they can't even supply them what they want, i doubt they are flogging off silicon to Cryptominers, they don't gain anything from it. Other than peeing off their partners.
