6GB showing as 4GB usable in Windows 7 64bit

I just found this problem now while running my 12 Gb at 1600 Mhz 7-7-7-20. Windows said only 8 Gb was available, but loosening the timings to 8-8-8-24 made all 12 Gb available again.

Oh fudge, no speedy ram for me :(
 
I read a review on ram speeds a while back and loosening off your timings is going to make very little difference in real life tasks.

I am going to test my ram individually, in every socket one more time - but not holding out much hope.

Everything points to a problem with the motherboard, i.e each ram works on it's own in every slot.

I guess I may need to return the ram with the motherboard so oc can rule out that the ram is at fault.
