7 days to die - worth the hard earned yet?

A17 is WAAAY harder overall, it really forces you to work as a group on MP, we are currently back on Navezgane as the RWG is currently a bit buggy (radiation zones in random places, holes in the ground etc)

We already had to start over once heh, I had set it on 'warrior' difficulty with 16 Z's per person, there were just 3 of us and we got annihilated!!! the 7th day :/
Now we are at day 18 on standard settings with Navezgane, runs lovely on my server with the Z's up to 80 (Linux dedi, 7700k, 32gb, raid ssd)
The shared Xp for team members is great!

Yeah experimental can be a bit buggy, but they fix most of it before it goes live. I havent come across any major bugs yet on my single player Navezgane game. I am not doing too much though as the save games usually break when the game comes out of experimental, so just exploring a bit, with not too much grinding.

I agree with it being harder. Especially when you're low level and explore one of the 'dungeon' style houses. I went in one to do a bit of looting, fell through the floor and was running through the house trying to find a way back out with like 20 zombies chasing me. It didn't end well, nor did a few more attempts to retrieve my backpack lol. Oh and now my health is at 25% permanently until I find a first aid kit. I am glad they have made it harder though as A16 was way too easy.

I think the loot is a bit too generous in A17 though. I just have it on the default 100% and have already found a sniper rifle, AK, 2 handguns, a shotgun and a hunting rifle on day 2...

Oh and one change I absolutely love about A17 after playing for a bit is that arrows have a chance of sticking in the zombie and can be retrieved!

How were you playing it? You craft armour, weapons, building blocks, etc. Make a building your safe space and camp at night from zombies. It has a leveling system too.

Played this with a friend for the first time a couple months ago. I really can't see the appeal of this game. Was not what I was hoping for. Felt very cheap slow and dull. Did We just play it wrong?

It all depends what sort of games you like as this game won't be for everyone. I think it works best as a coop PVE game, but some people do have fun playing PVP as well. The basic concept is you start with hardly anything and have to explore the world to find loot, collect materials to then build a base and every 7 days there is a blood moon where waves of zombies descend on your base and you have to try and survive until morning. Then each 7 days as you level up the hordes will get stronger, so you need to keep improving your defenses and find/craft more ammo etc. Its a mix of minecraft and dayz, with a unique tower defense element that sets it apart from the other survival games. If you don't enjoy building, or exploring, looting and crafting, then you probably wont get on with this game. If you just want a coop zombie game that looks nice and is faster paced, without all the building etc and not having to worry about eating or drinking to survive, then something like Dying Light would be a better option.

Not sure what you mean by it felt cheap, but you need to remember it's a voxel based game, so it's never going to look like an AAA game. The entire world is made up of 1m sq blocks, so imo the game looks amazing when you bare that in mind, especially when compared to other voxel games, like minecraft. You can build up or dig down and every block in the game is destroyable, be it a tree, prefabricated house or an entire mountain range.

If you played months ago then the AI was a bit buggy in the last Alpha build and zombies would often just run around in circles. From the little I have played so far it does seem like the AI has been improved, so it should be a lot more fun on a horde night.

Thanks for the replies. We do enjoy these style of games hence why I was shocked to find I didnt enjoy this. I don't think we got to the 7th night, so perhaps that's why it just felt lacking. Perhaps we should give it a go again

If you do decide to give it another try i'd wait a few weeks until they properly release A17 as its still in the experimental phase at the moment so will need some balancing and bug fixes. From the little I have played so far of A17 I am loving it, they have added loads of content and its a lot more fun exploring the world now with the buildings all filled with sleeper zombies and traps.

Really enjoying this, mix between dayz and minecraft.

Can get it for about a fiver by googling 7 days to die discount on google.
