£700 help

Gigabyte all day long. Factory overclocked, so faster than a 290 :)

Here is some reviews from happy OcUK customers.

just wow..
What can I say about this card.. bought it on weekly offer so worked out cheaper than the stock speed Gigabyte 780 which was sweet.

Upgraded from a GTX 580 and wow, the difference in performance is way more than i anticipated. Coupled with my i7 2700k 4.2ghz i'm easily reaching 80-110 fps on BF3 with EVERYTHING on max, temps at a max of 63 so far which is a HUGE difference from my previous card.

I was a bit hesitant at first about buying a Gigabyte graphics card as I have always gone with EVGA, however I don't regret my decision and nor will you if you buy this. simply amazing.

Quality Graphics Card
Quality card maximum overclock 1215Mhz on the core, and with fan speed of only 57% without touching voltage.

Bought mine at the end of May 2013 when it was released, cost £569.99 then, now it's £509.99 and £479.99 on week only offer!

WOW
This card oozes class. This card cruises through battlefield 4 no sweat. I am on on full ultra at 1920x1080 and am maxing BF4 out. I have had no issues. Shadow play is awesome. The cooler is amazing. At 75% you can hear a low whooshing of air. I have only needed around 60% which is extremely quiet, barely audible.

one happy happy here

paired with a 2600k @ 4.7

Excellent!
Excellent card at £399 with 3 games.
Boosts to 1124 from stock, with a maximum overclock of 1254 without increasing voltage.
Memory boosting to 7Ghz.
The card is very quite. The sound of my corsair sp120 fan on my h60i is louder.
At 1080p you cant go wrong. 290 or 290x better at the higher resolutions but are loud and run hot.
Highly recommended!

seriously good bit of kit
Upgraded from reference 680 SLI to this single 780 - I am game at 1440p and I am really really impressed with this card - the extra memory and bandwidth are noticeable in performance - BF4 smooth on ultra and 64 player maps

likewise crisis 3 pretty much every thing maxed and great FPS

runs much quieter than my previous cards even under serious load and temps are ridiculously low - cant recommend enough - ill be going SLI when I can :)

10/10
Ordered this Tuesday evening/night sometime and to my surprise it came Wednesday morning! so someone made my day a little happier!

As for the card, i can find no fault so far. Very quiet & beastly performance.

Very powerful and very quiet!
Firstly I will say how quiet this card is, I have a computer for the living room with an Antec P82 case and I cant hear the fans over the low thum of the case fans. Seemingly no change in volume under load which is very impressive. Temperature has yet to rise above 65c while gaming either and thats after 3-4 hours on various sessions. Gaming at 1080p is silky smooth (60+ FPS) on all titles (BF3, Crysis 3, AC4 to name a few). That is paired with a 2500k at 4.4Ghz for reference. All in all very impressed! Highly recommended.

Every person who left a review I have posted and every review gave 5 stars, so probably best to let them guys do the talking :)

I hate to rain on your parade Gregorio, but im going to do it anyway. :D

Lets look at OcuK's testing of 780Ghz vs 290 Pro.

Embarrassingly its not even close. OP only pick a 780 Ghz if you like slower more expensive cards.

The 780ghz given its phenomenal boost clocks out of the box (1123/6000) had no overclocking headroom to speak of sadly. I tested two different manufacturers cards with the same results. For a plug and play card showed a good set of benches. I could not prove at least for the 780 ghz SKU that Nvidias claims of B1 stepping cards offering more overclocking to be true. They are just optimized to be fast out of the box.

So in summary, ultimate performer 780ti closely followed by and eclipsed in one instance by R290X. Best Value R290.

Also worth pointing out. Immature 290 drivers vs Mature 780ghz drivers.

Every Sapphire 290 review ive seen has had no trouble exceeding 1200mhz core at low temps. It can't be beat tbh.

I hate to rain on your parade a little but I'd assume that pro is o/ced at that clock and the ghz is stock?
But either card tbh is great and you would be happy either way

lol Matt, check out the clocks :D and they needed a MK-26 custom cooler and volt modding to get those clocks (1.41V). :D

15% slower (firestrike) and i achieved higher clocks with just 1.25v on the reference cooler on two different cards. :)

Isn't the ghz fastest 780 going then? ALso I won't oc myself as I don't know where to start or how to test lol so want the fastest out the box

That gigabyte card is not the one I looked at, the gigabyte ghz edition is 440 quid from ocuk

Well the Sapphire card is £60 cheaper and will perform the same. It will be cooler, quieter and likely overclock better should you wish. Can't go wrong with either card to be fair though so good luck on your choice. :)

To back up what i said above.

As you can see, the Sapphire card is £60 cheaper, much cooler and considerably quieter. Its just an all round better card. However im not on commission (sadly :p) so ill leave it to you.

Good luck. :D

I was looking to save you some cash and make it cheaper if you do go SLI The Ghz Ed is faster but not by anything noticeable.

@ Matt - Just to put it into perspective for ya ;)

Edit:

Also @ Matt.
You have used 2 different sites comparing noise and heat and none of the results match up, so you can't seriously use that for comparison. It would be like me benching BF4 and then someone else benching BF4. It would be all over the place and so many variables to consider.

I will let him decide now, our fun most stop Gregorio. :D :p

I'd bet my life savings that the sapphire card is faster, (if overclocked) cheaper, quieter and cooler though.

Lol @ people saying sli 780... when it's over his budget.

2x 290 pro with aftermarket cooling IS within budget... AND just as fast

stop with the silliness nvidia trolls.

I can only imagine the kind of noise and temps he will see if going crossfire 290. Personally, if going for 2 x gpu's it would be the windforce or the windforce ghz editions. No trolling, just honesty. I bought the ghz editions and they are amazing cards..and cool

II would like to thank everyone for there input how ever as I am still torn a coin toss it has to be lol.

the cards of choice are the gigabyte gtx 780 ghz edition or the sapphire r290x tri x oc results will be posted at end of the week Lmfao

Mr. Lepilov from Xbitlabs puts 290X@1130Mhz - 2% faster @1080p and 4% - 1440p against overclocked 780@1032/1085/1162Mhz(core/boost/max actual), which basically corresponds to 780 Gz Edition clocks.
So really there is not that much between both of them.

At this point it is probably relevant to weight in some other factors into consideration like Nvidia's - Shadowplay/Physx/Gsync or AMD's - Mantle/TrueAudio/FreeSync.
