>> 7300GT 256mb GDDR3! <<

Not bad over 9k in 05. Thats more than a stock X1800XT and a stock 7900GT.

They do even better on the real gaming benchmarks as well! I think its on fear where the SLI cards are roughly twice as fast as a single 6800GS. Not too bad for budget cards.

 Only 35 points shy of 10k!!!

Futher EDIT:

Reading more into that link above one of their team using a pencil vmod took the core to 820mhz! Scoring 6.3k in 05 and over 14k in 03. Not bad at all!

Please note I have linked the image as the forum/ site has ads to other uk computer stores.

820Mhz on the core!
what voltage was this at? surely no less than 1.6?
could you email me the link please, wouldnt mind reading about this one

Its at 1.9v but with custom cooling.

The link to the forum is off of the link I quoted on page 2. I believe its on the overclocking part of the review.

They couldn't seem to push the memory any futher than 1600 but still seeing as though SLI'd DDR2 models can keep up with a 7600GT SLI'd GDDR3 models with memory running twice as fast should have no trouble beating it.

yeah nice overclock, nice performance boost too

but nobody would attempt that on their own 7300GT, 1.9v + those clocks would surely kill the card in a short space of time no matter what cooling was used

Possibly.

I believe he was still able to hit something like 750 on the core with only 1.6v which is much more reasonable.

These look like real bargains, will be watching with interest to see when they show up :)

Exactly what I am thinking. I am sorely tempted about picking a couple up for a bit of SLI fun. (only if the price is right of course)

Oooops apologies :)

No problem :) they are just under £70 for the ddr3 256mb one, 128mb is just over £50 and you can get the passive gigabyte ddr2 ones for 60ish. (sorry about the vague prices, don't wanna make them easy to find...rules is rules)

I've just seen some of the DDR3 ones appear for 23 quid more than the DDR2 ones.

Is it worth it to get two DDR3 ones or two DD2 ones considering the 46 quid price difference?

The cores are 100mhz faster and the mem around twice the speed, imo it is worth it. But of course that is for you to decide.

It appears from the link above that 2 DDR2 models can just about keep up with a single 7600GT only pulling ahead by up to 10% once overclocked.

However the GDDR3 models are running memory nearly twice as fast as the DDR2 models so this does make a big difference.

Right, didnt realise the cores were slightly quicker (damn thread skim reading, always a bad idea ;) ). Might get a couple of those then. Quite shocked that two of them in SLi destroy my X800XL, its amazing how things move on so quickly.

Hm, just found a XFX DDR2 7300GT with 512MB of memory onboard. XFX dont list it on their site but its due in soon according to a shop site.

512Mb is pointless at this end of the market, it just won't be used.

Indeed! I am torn with the option of buying a couple of these for some SLI fun :)
