Anyone know when the kaby lake i7 desktop cpu's are likely to be available?

I'm thinking of doing a rebuild and may as well get the latest cpu.

I am more interested in Z270 motherboards. Heard some rumours that Asus won't offer Impact and Gene series.

Yeah I wonder this too, Intel keep making stuff appear later, they only made Kaby because Cannon isn't ready and Kaby is still massively behind. I'll stop complaining if the mainstream i7 6 core 12 threads

With Coffee Lake apparently, i might just wait until Ice Lake myself since it will be a new architecture. I think my 5820k will easily go strong until then.

Yeah if you have a 5820k I wouldn't be looking to upgrade for another 3 years easily. I'm on a rather weak i5 though.

I'm on a 3770k myself.

I think Kaby Lake's IPC and clockspeed + all the Z270 features makes for a decent upgrade from Ivy Bridge.

It won't be locked, it just won't be fully supported on older OSes.

Kabylake runs fine on Windows 7, confirmed by multiple engineering sample owners.

That said, Windows 10 performance > Windows 7 performance, just disable the privacy settings via the multiple one click programs out there, and GG.

If your on Skylake right now, don't even bother with kabylake. I'll wait for reviews of cannonlake before I upgrade again.

I'm pondering buying a 6700k and a quality motherboard with some fast ram to replace my aging 2500k. Or should I wait for kaby lake?
