7800X3D temp concerns

What motherboard are you using and what BIOS version? Which EXPO profile are you running?

Just checked, I have BIOS version 1616 and the EXPO Profile (the one I used at least) just gives me enabled/disabled options.

I haven't accessed/updated the BIOS since I've had the computer (prior to a couple of days ago after my problems started). I tend to leave that stuff well alone. The only things I have ever done to my PC is updated Windows/Graphics drivers.

You didn't mention what motherboard you are using, but I discern that you are using a Asus motherboard.

Check this link, that's the BIOS version you are using. You should definitely update to the latest BIOS, since the one you are on looks to have known issues that may be causing your issue.

Update to the latest BIOS, apply EXPO profile in BIOS, and re-test your system stability.

Leave expo off then
And keep playing see what happens

Are you on the latest bios?
Though would be bit peculiar it was fine 5 months
And expo was on all the time
But bios updates can improve ram stability

Yes these things can just happen
Never say never when comes to computers

If its 5 months old from ocuk
You should have warranty
Though whether that involves returning whole pc
If can't figure out what's at fault
I don't know
Try old fashioned method if no reply from Web ticket
In 1 working day
Phone them

Could also try running memtest
And any diagnostic software for your drives

As ltmatt just asked
Is there more than 1 expo profile?

No I'm not on the latest BIOS - just checked and there is a new one and it looks pretty easy to update. I will do that later.

The only things I have updated on my PC during the 5 months I've had it is Windows/Graphics drivers. If this does turn out to be an EXPO problem, I'm wondering what caused it after 5 months without any issues.

I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool last night - 0 issues.

I also ran 3dMark last night and good results.

Oops, sorry. Its a Asus Rog Strix B650-a.

Okay, I'll update the BIOS shortly.

Did you run memtest? I know you ran the windows one but the best one is the free version you download and install onto a USB stick and boot straight to it and let it run for a couple of hours (or overnight).

Also, what memory configuration do you have? 2 x 8GB? 2 x 16GB? 4 x 8GB? Etc. also, what make is the RAM? If memtest is ok, I'd be tempted to remove ram sticks and only leave one in, run it for a bit and see if issue still remains. If it doesn't, add another stick back in and repeat.

Okay, I've just updated my BIOS. That was scary!

When my PC restarted the Boot Screen said this;

Please enter setup to recover BIOS setting
When RAID configuration was built, ensure to set SATA config to RAID mode.
CPU fan detection error!
Please consider dropping Cpu fan speed lower limit or simply set to ignore if BIOS problem persists.

Setting the Cpu fan detection error to ignore is what I did a few days ago - so I just did that again.
To change the SATA conf, I went to Advanced/SATA config and in SATA mode changed from AHCI to RAID. I hope that was right, my PC is on anyway!

*EDIT I have not turned EXPO back on yet, wanted to make sure I got this bit right!

2x Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB EXPO 16GB DDR5-4800C30 6000Mhz.

I will download memtest and run that later or overnight

60 - 70c gaming temps is fine by the way. The blue screens are not however. You may want to try a different set of ram too if you can get hold of any. Have overclockers messed around with curve optimiser?
I don't have any spare ram.

How could I check to see if overclockers have messed with the curve optimiser. Also, what is a curve optimiser!!!

From my basic thinking, I'm wondering why my PC was fine for 5 months then developed a problem out of the blue. I have literally only updated windows 11/graphics drivers. If I was messing with the BIOS or adding/remoivng hardware, I could understand.

Issues like this are a real pain in the bum to try and diagnose.

The arguement is that you purchased a pre-build from OCUK, it's still under warranty, there's clearly an issue so they need to resolve it (which your already have set in motion) but I'd personally would want to try and figure it out myself (much to my wife's annoyance).

Are you using raid? Otherwise you don't need it enabled and can leave it set to sata.

CPU fan detection error means you don't have the CPU fan connected to the CPU fan header.

Yeah I'm happy to fix it myself (with a lot of help!) I'd rather not have to send my PC back for weeks - its a gaming PC that I do work on.

That said, I don't want to mess around fixing something that might break again later after the warranty has run out. I want to fix the problem, but I also want to know what caused the problem after 5 months of perfect use.

Don't tell me about 'wife's annoyance'. I've spent virtually all day everyday messing with my PC since Sunday and yesterday was our 21st Wedding Anniversary!!! I've got until a planned meal on Sunday to get it fixed...

I don't know if I'm using RAID. I just read the the message I had at the Boot screen I posted and changed the setting from AHCI to RAID, there was no SATA option.

I have got 3 m.2 drives, C, D and E drives. C for windows, D for games, E for Work.

Long thread so lost track a little
But are the only issues while playing games?
More specifically
Are they all online games?
Ones that use anti cheat software
And are you using anti virus?
Have had issues before with anti cheat (easy anti cheat)
And running an anti virus at same time

Could try
Run the unigine benchmark in a loop
At same time run cinebench r23 In a loop (single core test)
How long is up to you
If that doesn't cause crashes
Would suspect some sort of software error not hardware

As said memtest is better than windows built in tester

Raid would mean you have more than 1 hard drive/ssd/m2 etc

If you don't know, you likely aren't using raid. You can set it back to ACHI next time you are in the BIOS.

Yeah its a long winding thread trying to solve an issue I barely understand and have no real knowledge of.

The issue started (black screen wouldn't boot) when I was browsing the internet. I 'ignored' the fan detection error and that seemed to work for a while. Then games started crashing after 10-30 mins (I've tried both online/offline). Yesterday I also had 2 random BSOD whilst not gaming - one of which I was AFK and came back to see my PC rebooting.

The only antivirus I have is malwarebytes.

I have run unigine and 3dMark once with no problems. I can run them for longer and see.

I have 3 separate m.2 drives.

Yeah if it's done it while not gaming
Memtest is probably the best thing to do next
Faulty ram can throw up all sorts of weird stuff
That aren't obvious what's causing the problem
