Evening,

I havent had my HIS 7950 long but Ive noticed micro stutter and lag in a fair few games.

Ive been playing Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon and Bioshock Infinite and they all seem to have a small amount of stutter. I can maintain a solid 60fps but still it stutters.

Is there a chance my card is at fault?

FC3 and Bioshock was very bad for frame drops tbh. FC3 worst then Bioshock, on Bioshock they is moments where if you stand by some doors leading to new parts the game will go crazy and half its frame rate.

FC3 is just a horrible Ubisoft game, issue that was never fixed even AMD said its a engine bug and nothing a driver can fix.
RadeonPro can help with FC3 stutter, use its dynamic vsync option.

Im still using 12.10 drivers. and yes a small overclock to 1100/1350

So with RadeonPro do you disable Vsync in game?

Definitely upgrade those drivers!

If nothing else you'll get a huge performance boost with the latest ones.

One of the features of one set (I think early 2013 ones) was specifically to reduce microstutter.

RadeonPro can override in game settings and does a good job at a constant framerate. In Dead Space 1 if you turn vsync off the physics go mental on higher systems and everything flies around, and in game vsync limits you to 30fps - RadeonPro limits it to 60 vsync perfectly.

No wonder games aren't running well, you don't even have the never settle improvements let alone any game specific fixes!!

Upgrade the drivers to 13.6 beta and enjoy....apart from fc3, its, as mentioned, a bag of ****

Ok i uninstalled the 12.10 drivers with the AMD utility and just downloaded the 13.6 beta however when I launch the installer I get a NSIS error and it will not launch..

What on earth is that!

The AMD clean up utility ONLY works on Windows 7.

For XP/Vista/8 try:

Installing a new driver version.
Enter Control panel and and uninstall current driver now Restart
Download and install Driver Fusion and scan AMD Display and remove all and restart again
Screen should now be in Standard VGA mode "massive icons"
Install new driver and restart once more.

I just installed the 13.3 beta drivers as I has already downloaded them and its all installed fine. One strange thing though is in MSI afterburner I dont seem to have any voltage control and the core clock slider only goes up to 1200?

Hmm. Well try installing 13.6 again, if the launcher wouldn't even start it was probably a corrupt download.

The internal driver version doesn't relate to the driver package version - confusing, I know.
