If i get my card back do you know how i can put my heatsinks back on? :D

I was thinking about using Akasa Tape for the memory chips and the Arctic "permanent" glue for the vrms - though i am tempted to use the heatsink i paid $20 for... It's bigger, wider, thicker and should cool better.

Still don't know if they will even fix my card - so maybe wait for that and go one step at a time...

Tape on the memory and glue on the vrm's is the way to go.

I took my accelero apart today and removed the back plate. Lowered temps a few more C due to better core contact. In return that's lowered vrm temps a bit as well strangely enough.

Have you tried bending the fins so they direct airflow at the VRMs?

that stuff is cheap but the shipping costs :(

So are VRMs getting close to 90c with these coolers ok? Most folks are telling me that is way too high, but I have 2 of these cards and took my time on both. Both of them are getting that high and it seems most of you are as well. What temps are dangerous and should I stop gaming at?

The vrm's are rated to 124c, but obviously, you don't want to get close to that.

If your not oc'ing, the vrm temps aren't really an issue for long term stability unless they go over 100c, it's if your oc'ing you need to keep an eye on the vrm temps, over 70c in my experience started impacting on stability/artifacts.

It's game dependant too, with Sleeping Dogs being the worst offender and possibly Bioshock Infinite too(I don't have my OC any more, I'm guessing as it needs more voltage for similar clocks used in other titles when your running oc's).

I replied to your previous post on the easiest way to drop vrms btw.:)

I am not OC'ing, it's unfortunate that my temps are this high. Accelero really needs to figure out a better way to cool these vrms. I am going to try your fan technique, though I feel I shouldn't need to do that. I have contemplated removing the heat sinks and using another glue, but there is a chance the temps could be worse.

Nervous, Ordered the Accelero, just waiting for OCuk to stock them. After reading the new posts. I'm thinking of canceling. The VRMs on my ref 7970 never go over 65ish. But after reading peoples reports. I really dont want to have to keep taking it apart to trial and error the VRM temps. Hmmmm

What is the average rise in temps expected on a ref board?

IF you use the proper permanent thermal adhesive (looks like glu in a single tube, should be included unless they ship G1 (two sachets) with your cooler which is not permanent) and the best possible heat sink combo like me (see picture below) then you will get better vrm temps than reference. If you have a exhaust fan near the accelero on the side of your case that will greatly help vrm temps. You just need to get some decent airflow over the vrms from your front fan and have the accelero at 100% fan speed and you'll be fine.

Best possible Accelero heatsink Combo below - Note the black heatsink is from the Peter GPU cooler. However you can use one of the long thin Accelero heatsinks here instead. Only 1-2c difference tbh.

patience is a good thing aswell, leave atleast 24 hours for the glue to go off fully

I still have my cooler here ready to fit,ill probably get round to fitting it but not rushed atm

@digital,60c is good for vrm's but it does depend on what game you play,farcry3/sleeping dogs tends to get them hottest

If you use the proper permanent adhesive you only need to wait 10 minutes. No word of a lie. If you want to play it safe, wait 30 minutes.
