7970 folding?

HD video is a breeze, it's when I try to game on it that 'sometimes' I get issues. Had a few driver crashes when playing MP starcraft 2 and I forget to pause gpu folding :D Is all fine until the moment of blank-screen and then horrible artefacts until I reboot :D
 
Anyone else still folding ok with these? I suddenly started getting horrible 3k ppd WUs so I turned it off. Just tried it again and still getting 11293 WU

Putting client-type, beta flags on of course...
 
Yeah. Picked up a 7850, so got it folding. Got nice 20Kppd WUs for a few days. Now I keep getting these awful 11292s which have no bonus points and give less than 5k. That's less than I used to get on an 8800GT, and the 7850 is 3-4x faster!

Had also forgotten about the side-effects of folding. It's so hot in here :D

I have a 7870, would that benefit from the beta WU and can anyone tell me how I actually add that flag

EDIT: I'VE worked out how to set the flag so it just remains to be seen if it's any good at the beta WU's!

They stopped giving out a couple of the beta projects a few weeks back. April 23rd. :(

That meant that they are are rare as hens teeth because loads of people are trying to get hold of them who aren't part of the beta team. But hey thems the breaks.

However, reports on the net are that a 7870 was getting around 25K:

GTX580, 240w, 46.8k ppd = 195ppd/watt
HD7970, 195w, 48.2k ppd = 247ppd/watt
HD7870, 127w, 22.0k ppd = 173ppd/watt
HD7850, 106w, 15.0k ppd = 142ppd/watt

25K don't sound too bad especially as it's currently reporting 4338 PPD :)

Might be more than that now as they have released more beta projects and a new core you may get close to 30 or 40k now! :)
 
Lowered the clock on my 7970 to 925 Mhz, but reduced to volts to 960 which should hopefully save a bit of power. Shaved about 10c off the temps too. TPF gone from 1.25s to 1.35s so not a bad trade off.
 
Since the new beta core 17s AMD cards are flying. 7970s are doing 130k PPD with an overclock. HD7850s are doing almost 40K PPD stock.
