7970 or 770?

What were your clocks for that that bench?

Also, would those clocks be game stable as the 770 are?

Not really sure on max clocks, still working that out.

Ran 1306/8000 in Heaven valley (+39), it looks like not much more
without more volts.:(

Not bad though, beat quite a few 7970's

I'm not 100% sure, either 1250/1300 core and likely 1823 memory. I might have even gone to 1325 on the core on the SD bench.

Its unfortunate as that was so long ago i wasn't even using a in game overlay back then which would have given me the exact clocks. It was stable and it was on older drivers so if performance has improved since then i don't know.

I found an old Tomb Raider bench, again in older drivers and before they released performance improvement for AMD users. Cpu @4.5ghz, 1080p Ultimate Preset, TressFX. I compared it to Arthurs 680 and i was about 11fps faster at the same settings at stock speed 1050/1500.

Then did one with the 7970 clocked, again not 100% sure on speed 1250/1300 core and likely 1823 memory.

Why does anyone still care about Sleeping Dogs? Is anyone still playing it? Or are we choosing it because it's slower on GK104 due to the lack of compute and therefore exaggerates the difference?

Cos its an awesome game with nice graphics and its very demanding. Oh and its a game me and Scotty both own. :p

Its not the be all and end all but that and Tomb Raider are the only 1080p benchmarks i have with that card.

Powercolor 7870 MYST @ 1200 / 1600 (£180 GPU)

Ultimate preset + StressXF / 1080P

Custom- everything maxed, 4x SMAA, StessXF the lot as high as it will go / 1080P

Not bad eh? :D

So you're only 4fps behind Scottys 1267mhz core 770? I'd say thats pretty good result with a 7870. Pitcairn or Tahiti 7870?

LtMatt you keep posting those same benches showing small gap between the 770 and 7970Ghz, but regardless of how many times you post them it wont make the 7970 any faster.
Bottom line is that in the games the original poster asked about the 770 is faster, even in the benches you posted, (which are at 1920*1200 not 1080p :p)
I could post up the benches I posted in post 15 several times but it wouldn't make them any better.

As I said in post 53

As for the only 1fps better,in that one review. Whereas the one i listed the gap is bigger, best thing to do is to go read several reviews and try to get an overal picture.

As I've already said to you Bru any small lead the 770 has at 1080p (1200p basically the same) in the games listed is easily made up with a 25mhz or less bump in the 7970 core clock. Given the fact the OP wanted to overclock, has already got his 7970 and has expressed his delight with its performance id say you're wasting your time. I've already said the the 770 is slightly faster in some titles at 1080p (far from all titles though - despite anands review which is in stark contrast to many other respected review sites), the op was aware of that but he made his choice and hes happy with it. After all the 770 is a newly released card and the 7970ghz has been here since may 2012 so the few fps advantage is nice and all but easily made up by clocking the 7970 further. Something the OP has said he is keen to do.

You do also behave as if Anand is the only reviewer that matters, Anand being the only one showing a clear difference between them.

cherry picking what best suits an argument and complain when someone posts other reviews, really?

I'm wasting my time, and yet you feel the need to post the same set of benches 3 times in the same thread after the opening poster has bought his card, yeah ok....

Makes me laugh you talk about cherry picking than miss out the crucial part of my post

I posted those benchmarks twice, once as a response to you and once as a response to Mr Krugga, who was under the impression the anand results were accurate. The benchmarks i posted previously are from the same website but do not include a 770. When i discovered the newer ones with 770 results included i added those as well. As confirmed by looking around at other reviews and my own testing of a 7970 ghz the anand results (for whatever reason) are slightly off. The discrepancy in numbers shows this when compared to other review sites.

This thread is done and dusted guys the OP has things sorted.

Agreed.
