7970 vs 680 thread.

I am coming into some money soon so i hope there is a price war to bring these prices down. I like to play at the highest detail but over the years i have went to serious gaming to playing casual. I cant really agree with such high prices to play once or twice a week. My 6870 already does a good job.

Still though if prices come low enough i might get a gtx680/7970.

Its not even at the ccc limit. They gave it 16% and called it max oc lol.

I doubt either of the cards are clocked to their max 24x7 potential they rarely are in reviews.

From a range of tests it would appear the GTX680 is 15% faster on average overall which is nice tho you wouldn't really notice the difference in realworld blind testing - I think the 680 wins on bringing some reasonable and relevant new tech/features to the table tho while not all of them are limited to the 680 i.e. some features like adaptive vsync work on older nVidia cards too I would still see it as a win for 7970 v 680.
