7990 or wait for new series?

After a few driver related mishaps causing the odd blue screen and poor performance. It seems I may have it set up nicely now. Very nice addition thus far.

I'm waiting for 9970 announcement but if it doesn't meet my high expectations I'll be replacing my 6990 with one of these

People don't seem to realise that's a dual card vs a single card, while the price of the 7990 is epic you still have to factor in things like power, heat and noise.

Not true, AMD drivers are absolutely fine now, on par with nvidia.

I'd say go whichever card you want, either a 780 or 7990 will serve you well, I personally prefer single cards to multi card setups but each to their own.

I would take 780 over 7990 anytime. **** crossfire stuff.
Had it HATED IT.

So, I have a 7990.

Heatwise, yes it heats up like a mofo. But If you run it at stock for gaming it is perfectly fine, stock settings will run all games on max. For benching mine will it 90C with fans on 100% but I only run the odd bench test for 10mins maximum. Also I only have an air cooled case.

No problems with it being a dual GPU / crossfire card. As it looks like a single graphics card and you can in effect have two GPUs in a singe PCI-e 16x slot I think it is brilliant.

I just swapped my 2 780 to these 2 7990 with the Special Price. Can't take the temptations together with those 14 free games!!!! I think you can hold on those vouchers for later if BF 4 is out! Get it mate, before its too late!!!

The money to performance is just to great for some.

After selling my Titan and picking up 2x 7990's I gotta say I am very happy with the latest AMD drivers.
In fact I have only had one crash and that was during a game of Dota 2 and its never happened again.

So thumbs up to them and keep popping out great drivers.:thumb:
