Part of amd/nvdia features . .:P

I keep switching thoughts though but tyger extra GB keep making me thinking twice

If you're talking 4k (and you did..) then I would look at the 295x2.

Yes it's a grand, but it saves messing around.

If you're prepared to use two separate GPUs then the 290 is fantastic in CFX apparently but make sure you get ones with good coolers on.

I went for Titan Blacks but then money was no object. I didn't want to find myself stuck on 3gb vram in an SLI arrangement that would have to be retired because it ran out of memory.

The last time I went with two big GPUs was GTX 295 SLI. When BF3 came out they had about 2/3 of the vram they needed. I tried turning settings down, but even on minimum settings they still stuttered like crazy.

vram + 4k = very, very important. The new consoles have 8gb overall system ram with 6gb of that going to the GPU. That means ports will use pretty much the same. Greg did some testing with his Titans on 4k and Watchdogs used 4.5gb IIRC, so that would be you sodded on 780ti or 780 3gb.

Also remember. AMD GPUs use vram slightly differently to Nvidia.

I would either go 780 6gb possibly SLI or add another later.

295x2 if you got the cash.

290 CFX.

That's if you're talking 4k.

I'm not going to say you right or wrong but I would ignore the bus size. If a card with a 384bit bus can give you better performance then a card with a 512bit bus what does it matter? Just read up on benchmarks on your favorite games and don't worry about what bus the card has.

Hi there

With the 7990 being EOL you will more than likely get credit / refund from the manufacturer / place of purchase.

The manufacturers do not have much buffered stock of the 7990 so it may be difficult to repair or replace.

Bailey

good news for me! wouldn't mind that. even though no faster cards are out i get a choice :)

well no news from Gigabyte yet :( getting restless and looking for which card to go for

780ti/290x looks identical in performance

wanted the card for Witcher 3, but not sure what features i could not get on AMD other than Physx

2x 290x are tempting.... specially being 700 vs 1000.....

well, i sent my card to OCUK on the 5th via next day, i got in touch with gigabyte themselves and they said they should receive it on the 22nd, i shall be in touch with them on Wednesday for an update, you would have thought OCUK would send their customer RMA's via next day tbh.

ah well have to wait and see

anyone know what features i would not get on witcher 3?
the features ive found are

Physx - Nvidia only of course (unless CPU)
Hairworks - Hairworks works on both?
Fireworks - guess can be on both?
water effects - both?
Tessellation - both

if thats the case only missing Physx.
