7990 Replacement

How did this pan out in the end?

I ask as I am having to RMA an MSI 7990 this weekend as it is failing. I'd be happy with a 780TI as a replacement as I am put off AMD card's for the time being.

So if overclockers test it and find the card faulty do they not send you the replacemebt? They have to send it back to the manufacturer which could leave you without a graphics card for a month?

Check the AMD drivers thread for an update on your issue. :)

Wondering what will happen with my RMA'd Sapphire 7990

Problem is I have another one in my system and have no idea what to do.

Likely to be a refund, they went eol ages ago.

Died after 15 months, 1 gpu stopped working which crashes apps / machine when you go full screen and 2nd gpu kicks in. Test all possibilities with my other 7990 and definitely the card.

OC RMA'd to Sapphire it within hours of dropping it off.

I expect to get a refund, how much I don't know. Bummer really as was a £800 outlay and I have a 2nd one as well. So if I don't get a 7990 back, I will have to change my entire system unless I find another 7990 on the bay, which I won't want to do because of warranties.

1st time I have ever RMA'd hardware and only did it because of the value of the card.

Depending on the outcome I may sell the other 7990 to fund 2 x 980 greens. Will loose about 15% performance, but also reduce power consumption by 1/2.

I got what I paid for the card which at the time was £400.

I've been told I'll get a repair or replacement but as we know 7990's are end of line.

Wouldn't mind the refund to be fair but the card is 13 months old so don't know where I stand. If I knew I was getting a refund I could buy a card in the meantime so I am not a whole month without a graphics card, having to wait a month before knowing is going to be a real hassle!

I got a replacement 7990 that failed after 2 days then sent it back talked with bailey got a refund bought 2x 980s :P
