8200 Blew PSU

I am running an Antec 650w psu myself without any issues - the corsair maybe a slightly better/worse psu but I would think they are similar.

Running :-
Msi p67 motherboard
8gb DDr 3 (4x2gb)
i2500k @ 4.2 (voltage about 1.25)
470 gpu - clocked to 480 speeds (cooled by arctic cooler)
3 x 200mm + 2 x 120mm + 1 x 140 fans
1 x 750 hd + 1 x 250hd
1 x 128 ssd
Dvd re-writer & blue ray
TV card
Asus Soundcard.

Would the psu also be the reason why my CPU was getting temps of 65+ of just only 10 mins of play

That would be a crappy cooler, or bad contact with the CPU or bad airflow in the case.

it's rig would be using 450-500w~ hence why it lasted 10 minute. anything over that like 600w it would have only lasted afew minutes

Are AMD systems the new Pentium 4 EE CPU? I think even 450w is way too high. More likely the system was using 200-300W (300 is still high for just running BF3).

I first put the artic cooler rev 7 on it then see it was running high changed it to the stock cooler Any one recommend a good cooler for this chip only gonna plan on overclocking it to 4ghz

i have the Thermalright Venomous X......... good cooler

also max safety 8120 temp is 61c

The only thing that you should never skimp on is the PSU... It takes something like this to get you to realise it, I think a lot of us have been there.

On the subject of quality PSU’s 18 months ago I upgraded my OCZ 600 SteathXtream to a Seasonic X650. These are the benefits I noticed.

Acoustics: The Seasonic runs totally passive in my low power rig, after 18 months not a trace of dust on PSU dust filter! The OCZ was a noisy unit and it was worth the money just for near silent computing.

Stability: I’m only running a £80 1156 Gigabyte board, yet my rig is the most stable I’ve ever owned.

Undervolting: The X650 allowed me to undervolt more then the OCZ. I’m currently running my i5 750 @ 3 ghz + turbo + all power saving at 1.175v. So my 95w CPU is now the equivalent of 77w including running a 12% overclock! My chipset and QPI is set as low as possible, and I have 1333 MHz 1.5v memory running at 1500 MHz @ 1.4v.

Heat & Efficiency: The OCZ was like a small heater on low, in compassion I can barely feel heat from the Seasonic.

Reliability: I have a theory that because the X650 has more stable voltage output over the OCZ, plus the fact i'm undervolting more, my computer hardware should be more reliable over the long term.

What power supply though? Cheap power supplies will fail

All power supplies will fail at some point.
If you are lucky, a cheap PSU will last 10 years.
If you are unlucky an expensive PSU will die in 6 months.
Quality PSUs, in general, tend to last longer and regulate power better than the cheaper brands.

I suspect that your PSU had reached the end of its life and it was just a coincidence that it happened to blow while playing a game.

My last PSU was an Antec TruPower and it lasted about 8 years. My old PSU was an el cheapo brand which never actually died. It had served me without incident for about 1 year (before I upgraded to an Enermax, which again, never failed me).
