8800 320mb GTS Feb 12th.

As i said before no one is going to want to buy an ATi card when these come out, Nvidia is the only buy now till ATi get their r600's out, as who is going to want an x1950pro or an x1950 XT 256mb whose prices go up to £190 when you can have a next gen 8800 GTS for less than £200 that will just **** all over em, and bearing in mind the BFG is the dearest, theres bound to be cheaper brands around the £170 mark, probably a bit less, bye, bye ATi see you in March, i hope r600 is a good'un for yer. :D :D

Nah im not a fanboy of any brand, have to agree with you above, this will kill the x1950pro's as well without a doubt, the cheaper brands of these are to come yet, so who's going to want a pro, when for a few quid more you could have a card that just totally decimates it in Dx9, and has much better IQ, and a bonus of having Dx10, as you said ppl have been snapping up the x1950pro's for £150+, like the HIS ICEQ3's, but theres no point buying ATi cards now, not at them prices. :)

Wonder if Gibbo will have an OcUK one for about £160. :D

Look what happened to the x1950 XTX, everyone was saying its totally worthless, do not buy it as the 8800 GTS was only about £40 more, well look at the price of the cheapest x1950pro = £117, add £40 to that and you have £157, now that puts it just shy of the 320mb GTS cheaper brands by a few more pounds, so how is the pro different from the XTX, if the XTX was totally worthless because the 640mb GTS was only about £40 more, then the pro is totally worthless, as the 320mb GTS is probably gona be about £40 or so more, no difference at all, the BFG is probably the dearest brand, and its pre-overclcoked as well, how much will the standard clocked ones be, and the cheaper branded ones, OcUK may have a branded one, that wont be £199. :)

x1950pro's will have to drop to about £70-£80 probably to make them still worth buying now, i can't see ATi doing that, theres no point at all buying even the cheapest pro for £117 when the 320mb GTS is only gona be about £40-£50 more, doesnt make sense, if it did then everyone would have still been buying the x1950 XTX's instead of the at the time £40 odd diff for the 640mb GTS, they wern't.

If your looking at a new card now your only option is Nvidia, only consider ATi again when they get their next gen r600's out, as now there is no point at all in buying any ATi old gen card.

I can't see why anyone would still want a pro if they only knocked a tenner off, not now, but as you say they will still sell as that was my perspetive, and everyones different. :)

Even if they do drop the prices though, their sales are still going to get hit, and it will still hurt as you say.

The performance difference will be absolutely massive, cant say about Vista as the 8 series hasn't got any Vista drivers yet, the beta ones are crap, officials are god knows when as they have had 5 years on em already, but ive heard in the next couple of weeks they could be out, but i wouldn't hold my breath not if they've had 5 years so far. :D
 
Can check if it fits the p180 here on tosk's case compatability chart. :)

Im guessing if the names are in white, then they fit no probs, but the names in cyan may have probs, so it looks like the GTS fits the p180 fine, but the GTX has probs.

It'll also work fine on the DS3.

Easily as those are Crossfire certified for 2x x1950 XTX's in crossfire, so if they can power 2x of those then i think a single GTX will be no problem for it. :D

Im afraid price checks are not allowed outside of the Price Check forum in the Members Market, you need at least 250 posts, and have been registered for more than 90 days, then you activate your trust, and then in about another days time its done for you and you can get in there. :(

Yeah i wouldn't mind seeing that myself seen as the x1950pro is around the x1800, could see what increase i could sorta expect if i plumped for one, thanks. :)

I know how fast they are compared to the x1950 XTX's etc...

Im not going to sell my x1800, im just gona keep it as a spare, i may even put another rig together as ive still got my old Asus board with my 3500+ and 2gb of ram on it as well, plus a couple of hard-drives kicking about.

Was thinking of maybe waiting to see what r600 is like as i dont need to upgrde at the moment as my x1800 is still cutting it great, or what i may do is get one of these, then if r600's are any good i can get one of them, not like im spending a huge amount as these are only gona be what say £170-£200, plus i should be able to sell it then as well still. :)
