8800 320mb GTS Feb 12th.

YAY 320mb GTS tomoz for me. :D

I couldn't resist no more \0/

Just hope my PSU is up to the job, 520w GlobalWin SuperSilent with 28a on the 12v rail, handles my x1800 perfectly like so should do hopefully. :p

If the x1950pro is the same size as the x1950 XT, then it will fit no probs as the GTS's are the same size, it will totally decimate the x1950pro, they are faster than x1950 XTX's, so definately worth getting hold of. :D

Always the same though, look at how fast the G80 prices dropped after release, look what happened when the x1900's came out, there was uproar on here as everyone was snapping them up then about 3x days after release they were put in the 'This Week Only' all those who bought on day of release were going off big style on here :D, every new graphics card price drops just after release, theres never a good time to buy as new cards are coming out all the time, every couple of months or so, it will totally destroy the x1950pro, its faster than the x1950 XTX, so i should think it will beat the pro with relative ease, ATi can't compete in Dx9 anymore, a single GTX beating 2x x1950 XTX's in Crossfire is proof of that, so they can't compete, not until they get their r600's out and we see how well they stack up against the G80's :)

Hi there

It won't even break a sweat. :)

This 320MB version believe it or not is hardly any slower than the 640MB version.

In fact in some games and at lower resolutions the BFG 320MB is quicker than some reference 640MB cards.

I believe the 320MB GTS will handle the latest games even at 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 with relative ease. :)

1680x1050 should be fine. :p

It doesn't matter to me if the price drops to £150 next week, i am still getting a card that is an absolute steal of a price now at £199, x1950 XTX came out a few months ago for £328, here we have a card that is next gen, and beats it for only £199!!!, that is an absolute steal, look at how much x1900's/x1800's were when they came out, why would anyone care if they do drop to £150 when it makes no difference as they are an absolute steal of a price at £199 now as said, they are still getting an absolute bargain. :)

Lol good stuff, hope u enjoy your upgrade from 256MB x1800xt to 320MB 8800GTS

Thanks, Its a 512mb x1800 XT im going from, so it is a drop in the memory, but seen as i only game at 1280x1024 then even 320mb should cope with that fine, last Nvidia card i had was the GF4 Ti4600, man that was a while ago. :D

Last driver i used to swear by i think were called the 4.09's or was it the 4.07's i forget lol, aint got a clue what they like now though so ill be lost with trying to get the best settings for best IQ etc... :D

I dont think these guys are shipping them out till release day (Monday), so everyone will get them Tuesday, i was going to go for mine today but severe storms here, im hoping it eases a bit later, but if not theres always tom, im in no hurry. :)

Seasonic will run the GTS fine, whatever replacement you get the GTS will be faster, ATi don't have any cards out that are as fast as the GTS/GTX. :)

Hi there,

so the 8800gts 320 MB needs more watts thant the 7900gto?

It looks like it after reading the specifications. My Tt pure power has 480w (520w peak) and is able to cope with the gto at gtx speeds but I wonder if it can cope with the gts....

I just ordered one....shall I cancel????

If thats the PSU ive just been looking at then its got no chance im afraid as its only got 18a on the 12v Rail, but i may have been looking at the wrong PSU, GTS needs about 26a on the 12v Rail, will either be on the box if you still have it, or on the label on the PSU itself.

Quick question guys, is there a custom fan that fits the 8800 cards?

Does this one fit per chance?
Zalman VF900-LED Quiet Copper VGA Cooler
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-024-ZA

That one won fit as its only for the x1k/7900 series, this one is coming out for the 8 series, not sure when though. :)

Man, the amount of questions in this thread is ridiculous. They are all mostly the same.

You should be aiming for 500W+ with this card, and you will need around 26A+ on the 12V rail.

Loadsa must be the first person to get his hands on one of these. Will be interesting to find out what its like. Post some piccies when you get it!

Will do ill be leaving in about 5-10mins. :D

Right shes in there, but i aint got a clue about the control panel, went to advanced 3D, and ive got a big list of all me AA/AF settings, clamp this etc... whats the best settings for a benchie, and man shes quiet, i cant hear her at all. :D

14,156 in 3DMark05/1280x1024/CPu at stock?

Guessing that would be about 16k if you overclocked your CPU?

[edit] I think the 'beast' was getting about 11k with a x1950Pro and overclocked e6600/3GHz.

Nah 05 does 1024x768, can remember what my x1800 got in 05, adn im going to have to download 06 again as i cant find it now lol, but im gona run 03 as i remember i got about 20k with the x1800. :)

Man this things quiet, i never heard nothnig from it, no spin ups nowt.

EDIT: 03 got 25.5k, bearing in mind all i did when i put it in is un-install my ATi drivers, then in safe mode i ran the CAT Uninstaller, then i put the 8 in, and just installed 03/05 closed all my programs in the Task Bar and ran em. :)
