So guys iv had my Card since Saturday morning and unfortunately I got myself suspended! anyways after two days of testing I must say im so far really impressed and happy!

So I got a non OC version, this being the Point of View Version of the card, Pictured below:

edit1om5.jpg

So it comes in a basic retail pack with all the expected accessories, the driver CD and the card of course

edit2ei1.jpg

And in the system, samne length as a 1950pro so no problem there

edit3bo1.jpg

So first things first, lets get the 3D Mark scores in so I ran the GPU at stock in 3D Mark 06:

First run with the CPU e6300 @ 2.33GHz

3DMark Score 8239 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 3717 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 3700 Marks
CPU Score 2021 Marks

So a decent return and 3000marks higher than my old 1950pro!

So next I thought lets match these OC versions and I increased the core by 50Mhz to 550Mhz core!

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1195915

3DMark Score 8587 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 3966 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 3924 Marks
CPU Score 1982 Marks(seemed to go down compared to last will need to run again)

Nice return of 300marks for the 50mhz increase in core! Unfortunately my CPU wont go any further on my current setup! I have still to go and clock the memory on the card but im more than happy!

*EDIT* More extreme Overclocking attempted!

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1201485

3DMark Score 9362 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 4358 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 4445 Marks
CPU Score 2029 Marks

This was achieved with a core of 652Mhz and a mem speed of 900Mhz(1.8Ghz effectively). Good score and with a better motherboard I could clock my duo higher shame it cant go higher as I could easily break 10k!

So believe me this card will break 10k easily with the right kit.

Onto 3DMark 05 now

Remember how we all wanted to break that 10k barrier well its easy :P

3DMark Score 13356 3DMarks

This is again limited to my CPU setup as I have seen Loadsa's score of over 14k!

Onto real gaming however and boy does this thing shine. I for one would have though the 320mb would have been fairly limited for a few games, namely oblivion, but with everything maxed out, minus the AA setting which I had set to off when testing the frame rates were really impressive.

In outside areas in game you were looking at 70-75fps to around 50-55fps with heavy foiliage, AA when activated obviously gives this a decent hit and takes it down to the 50's and 40's respectively, still ultimately playable and gorgeous!

Indoor areas are well over 150fps at parts as we all know how well this game runs indoors compared to outdoors anyways.

This is playing at 1280x1024
To for AA with HDR you need to do that in the NVidia game profiles, this helps when you want to force scary quality!
---------------------------

Half Life 2 next with the Boat scene being the test of choice, so I loaded up the old 16xQ AA w Super Sampling, 16xAF etc etc! Super results

The game looked so so so so good and the fact that it ran so smooth was great too! A low in this game under heavy water reflection and effects was coming in at 60fps and the fact it never dropped below was great, however, the majority of the time during this scene the game is being played at >>>>>100fps and it was a great experience!
----------------------------

Temperatures of the card are pretty decent too, my card is idling at around 54-56degrees and during load the highest it has hit so far is 68degrees, really happy with that and it clearly has a lot of give.

Also mentioned from Loadsa is how quiet this thing is and yes, I must agree, this card is completely silent  I was literally shocked, all I can hear is my CPU fan and the occasional DVD RW drive action, really impressive that it can keep things so cool with literally no noise.

No more terrible NVidia IQ either with everything looking extremely sharp and lets be honest stunning! No longer the blurry mess of the 7xxx series and despite what anyone says about them, compared to the ATi offerings it was poor. NVidia finally sorted it out, all credit to them as it looks great!

--------------------------------------

Using the official drivers on NVidia's site the 97.92's i think this card has been a great experience so far and I must say I am extremely happy with the purchase!

Everyone get one! Dont hesitate!

GURU 3D REVIEW
-------------------------------------
http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/416/1/

Pretty much how they sum it up

Gaming up-to 1920x1200 = Good
Gaming after 1920x1200 = Bad

MADSHRIMPS REVIEW

Basically they concentrate on the performance @ 1600x1200 and how the higher AA settings impact on the performance.

Here you can see the benefit in a game like Oblivion but not so much in others with the two cards coming in close.

Nice write up :)

Thanks man, its been really a quick test and its breathed new life into oblivion for me iv started again :)

Definately a great card for the money, there is only once choice if your thinking of spending £150 because there is no reason not to pay the extra for something which will last a long time no doubt, and the Dx10 stuff is there which warrants the purchase even more!

Next investment for you = a decent camera ;)

Nice, seems mine are about right then, just picked my GTS up today, see sig for spec, all stock

06 = 8641
SM2.0 score = 3195 (I think)
HDR/SM3.0 = 3891
CPU score = 2097

03 scored about 25.5k, and 05 scored about 14.2k

Amazing cards, can't even hear the thing, absolutely silent. :D

Yeah im surprised your 2.0 score is so low, it should sit around the same as your 3.0 score im sure! Also you can see how the CPU score pushes you over the 86xx mark which is where mines falters!

I dont see any need to OC it over the 550MHz mark just now, in later days why not though!

YEah well I wouldnt worry about it, your score is absolutely spot on I believe as you can tell compared to mines where your CPU is that bit better!

Its just great with everything, the thing I cant get over however is how quiet the thing is neverf mind the performance because I knew that would be good ;) I means actually silent!

Okay sorry guys I was at the cinema :p yes I managed to drag myself away from the card ;) Well the thing with the overclocking coolbits utility is that it seems to crash on the 97.92 drivers, I may possibly try one of the beta drivers in which to try it out! I just clocked mines to 550Mhz core as I knew that was safe in the OC version and obviously it worked fine :) so sorry easy I'll try and fix this.....just for u ;)

THe PCB itself is Green, wanted it to be black myself but oh well!

Also........i was suspended for bumping my thread on the members market....

Loadsa, a few questions:

How are you finding the card overall? are you pleased with it compared to the X1800 that you had previously?

Why dont you overclock your CPU/GPU... I didnt think it was possible to use a conroe at stock :p

To the OP of this topic:

What resolution are you playing Oblivion on my friend?

I can answer ** question for the x1800 too ;) iv had one of them myself and that was the card I played oblivion with! The difference was staggering I mean its super smooth in any part of the game, couldnt believe how well it copes.

Also its just a damn site faster in all departments as far as I can see!
Went from x1950pro to this tho ;)

Also i think i mentioned that all games etc were run at 1280x1024 :) very good results! Id like to try higher but dont have a monitor capable of!

Also Pretty sure loadsa has the same res as me

I've looked everywhere and i cannot find this card for £150 any chance you can tell me where it's available at that price?

Okay we cant discuss thats not allowed. Also the card is not £150, that is not what I said, if u read that quote again I mention if you were looking to pay £150 for a card then there is no reason to SRETCH that little bit extra to get something just so much more worthwhile in the long run :) sorry if it got you excited

read this quote i never said I got it for that price :P

Despite not being able to get auto detect on the NTune thing to work properly I decided to manually clock the card, I went to a 652mhz core and 900mhz(1.8Ghz effective) on the memory and then thought that sounded okay for a shot! :) Now I could have clocked higher but didnt wanna risk anything....so as it stands, at the moment I know it can reach 152mhz more on the core and 200mhz more on the mem, not bad so far.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1201485

3DMark Score 9362 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 4358 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 4445 Marks
CPU Score 2029 Marks

As we can see again that cpu is holding me back somewhat, 10k on the right setup will be so easy tbh! :D

Thats all I wanted to hear GTX speeds for 199 quid! give and take 32 stream processors :D

Well since the auto detect wouldnt work easy I thought I would just give those speeds a try for you ;)

Believe me mate, that was one of the FIRST things on my mind on saturday morning when it arrived, I thought, I wonder how high this will clock under auto-detect! Afraid at the moment with my system at least it doesnt want to do that at all!

I feel like I should pick up an e4300 so I can effectively clock that to 3Ghz on my system now though, I wanna break 10k! Anyways Im so happy with this card its unreal!

And another thing easy.....you realised I didnt spend £150 on this didnt ya? Cos a lot of people are assuming i did :p lol

easyrider said:
Yeah mate I understood that lol

Thanks for doing the clocking too :D

Nice results ;)

No problem mate, its an awesome card! No point looking back now :)

the R600 will need to be something special to beat that Price/Performance level and I do love my ATi cards as well! GOnna wear some Green tints for a good while now

I've been waiting for these cards to hit the market before I upgrade from my 6800GS any chance one of you guys that have got this card can answer some questions for me.

- What kind of temps are these things running at, idle / load.
- Will this card run on my Hiper 580 Type R.

580 Watt unit manual says 18A on 12v1 and 20A on 12v2. Common sense says it should have the power but I am just wondering if anyone has experience on this?

The rest of my system is fairly low load.

1x Sata HD
1x DVD-RW
4x case fans though I could run it on two
P5B Deluxe Wifi
C2D E6600 oc'd at 3.0Ghz

Idle/load temps are mentioned, 54-56 idle and as high as 68 load!

I run it on a Hiper Type R 580w and Im sure mines says something like a 30A rail in my manual!

Gusy I would take that review with a pinch of salt because I cant see it taking the speed of the card down to lower than that iof a 7950gt 512mb when you jump up to 1600x1200, it is a faster card that that, if anything it will be more driver issues or something. I would like to see someones test with this though!

Anyways I only play at 1280 x 1024 so im happy enough :D

The card is the same as an x1950pro in terms of length so around 9inches

gurusan said:
Yup for those with larger monitors the 640mb is definitely the better choice. I run a 19'' at 1440x900 so fortunately the cheaper 320mb should suit me fine.

Yeah ideal as that res is actually lower than 1280x1024 ;) so you will have really fast widescreen performance, i refuse to be convinced of some of these reviews so far, we will see later on today however with reviews going up everywhere!

I await Guru3d's review!

i very much doubt you can get a bfg 8800gts 640mb for that price, people pay more for bfg with its lifetime warranty, if you only want 1 years warranty fair enough but lifetime warranty gives a good resell value.

Well mines came with a 2year warranty @ a good bit under 200! so I was happy enough! :)

For the lifetime warranty the £200 is more than a fair price and you wont find a BFG at lower prices than OCuK pretty sure of that! ;)

The 320MB card is clocked at 580/1700 whilst the 640MB is at 500/1600. They really should have clocked them the same so that the results can be compared purely based on the difference in memory. This clock difference really "muddies" the low res results.

There isn't actually much difference in the high res results in general. Apart from with Call of Duty 2 which I suspect is some kind of engine/driver glitch.

YEah pretty sure its a driver glitch myself as performance is superb,I wish I had the means to test the resolution higher, but I shall just wait for other sites to bench it properly :) come on Guru3d!

I was expecting more from these cards tbh, 14k in 05 is only 1k more than my x1900xt. Has anyone here swapped from an x1900xt to the 320mb 8800GTS? If so, is there a noticable performance boost?

Yeha but chekc the 3DMark 06 results that is where its at mate ;) plus the directx10 stuff is a godsend once it takes off!

I ran an x1950pro before this card and an x1800xt so I can pretty much say there is a big difference in games, Oblivion is the biggest difference from all the cards so far, anything with really complex shaders will benefit more.

I kind of ignore the 05 results now anyways just more 3DMark 06 and gaming now!
