8g iPhone (£169) vs 8g iTouch (£199)

LOL my thread went a bit OT. Anyway I jailbroke my phone with pwnage and all is working great.

I have installed a few apps:
Snapture
Sketches
TapTap Revolution
poof
Bossprefs
Summerboard
ssh

Any other apps that anyone could recommend? I wanted to use Apollo for MSN but it fails to connect as I have a @gmail.com passport. Any other IM apps out there? Also after a good scientific calculator.

Cheers

Mobile Scrobbler is useful.
iPhysics is quite good fun.
TouchpadPro for remote controlling your PC.
Mobile Chat is an alternative for Apollo.

Mobile scrobbler is a Last.FM plugin, it submits the tracks you play if you have a Last.FM account. You can also play Last.FM's 'radio' stations through it.

Bossprefs basically is an 'additional settings' plugin. I've used it for turning off SSH, which apparently drains battery, and turning on the ability to take screenshots.

I have an O2 contract which i took out a couple of months ago, would I be able to use this on an Iphone without having to jailbreak it?

Put a sim in?

I don't really want to put a sim in. I was hoping there was a hack to remove any service type message from the top left.

You'll still need to bypass the activation so you might as well jailbreak it while you're at it. The benefits out-weigh the cons.

If you add http://twenty08.com/installer to your installer you can install the latest Mobile Chat that works on 1.1.4 without hacking around with the Hosts file.

If you have an old SIM card, or an inactivated one, you can shove that in the phone and that seems to remove the SIM message.

I already have an iPhone though.

Just because you don't know how to remve the service info from the top left doesn't mean I should just go out and buy a touch.

I think you missed my point.

The iphone is everything the itouch is and more.

The fact that you already have an iphone, what reason is there to get another iphone and use it as a touch? as your iphone can already do that.

I think you're missing what I'm saying. I am not using my iPhone as a phone and have no intention of doing so.

Only reason talk of buying a touch came up was because beepcake mentioned it. I have no intention of doing so.

Anyway, just put a sim card in.

You can hunt down some fixes on the installer for removing the network logo but i doubt anyone who use it as a phone wants to as that indicates you have a signal, even when its a weak one.
