8Pack super fast smash the rest i5 Skylake Overclocked, Discounted killer GAMING bundle.

4.4 is fine with air cooler on this bundle. Push that.

Glade your happy though :)

Awesome.

I once offered to buy you a pint after reading what you did for a customer. Very impressed with your support for bundles you've put your name to. Hope anything you make from my purchase is used to buy yourself a protein shake on me.

Great bundle, great support!

Can I ask, do people find this overclocked bundle slow to boot? Mine must take a minute to boot up and my main system drive is an SSD.
I'm wondering if I've missed something?

Just before I go ahead and flash this to my BIOS. Can anyone tell me if its possible to return to an ASUS BIOS?
Love the work of 8 Pack just would like to know if its an option if needed.

Hi everyone, its been an interesting thread to read, this one.
i recently puchaced this bundle as OC state its a 'guaranteed' overclock.
im new to overclockers.co.uk and obviously i did not read this thread until after purchase and build, neither did i know who 8 pack was, i simply thought '8 Pack' was the name of the parts bundle deal.

I have not done the overclock yet as im allowing the thermal paste its burn in time. but i do have a major concern and im wondering if anyone will take the time to answer it given the age of this thread and the date of the last posting in it.

Does anyone know if microsoft and intel have pushed out an update with the dreaded microcode that puts a stop to this Non-k over clock?

i know all new motherboards are now shipped with this feature locked out and that the one i got from OC is pre-lock down. but my concern is the microsoft security update bombing my system right after i perform the overclock, or it happening at some point in the future.

i understand 8-Packs recommendation of disabling all MS updates, but this is not best practice or a real answer.

So simply put. Has the update arrived? and if so does anyone know what one it is (number) so i can zap it.

Much appreciation to any helpful replies.

Any windows updates, can be uninstalled with one line in admin cmd prompt. Dunno why people are worried about it. People still running win7 will be familiar with this process to disable Win10 nagware.

MS updates bloat your OS beyond all comporehension. Its not best practice says who Microsoft. I dont update my machines any of them and all are working fine.

No the update has not happened and I think very unlikely.

Apologies if someone has asked this during the life of this thread but I couldn't see it myself during my read-through

Is this bundle compatible with a KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card?

And is the BIOS modifications required for ALL computers even if your not interested in Overclocking the motherboard???

Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd share my experience of installing this bundle, but before that - hats off to overclockers - ordered at around 15:30 yesterday and it arrived, for free, by 09:45 this morning (proper impressed).

First off - i didnt get any thermal compound thrown in my package (saw something mentioning grizzly?), its no issue though as a tube is in the cooler box. But i did get sweets!

Secondly, after about 3 hours i've managed to get my system properly working and managed to do a realbench, profile here. I don't know if 128.8k is impressive as i've never done it before - but the system is keeping good company if i look at those around what i achieved (lots and lots of beaten 6700k processors!).

Finally, your link for the BIOS update is broken, the site you've used doesn't provide a download service anymore as of 1st May. I managed to find it on the ASUS forums here.

Now that's out of the way, here's what I did to get mine working:

1. Download the BIOS update and the i54400.cmo profile to a memory stick.
2. If (like me) you are running a SSD you may need to go grab the ASUS SATA driver from their website for it before you can install windows, stick it on the same memory stick as the first 2 files.
3. Install Windows (7 Pro is my flavour). I ran into lots of issues with antivirus and even stuff like aero theme and realbench not wanting to work without Service Pack 1 being installed, so i installed that and then disabled windows update.
4. Reboot and smash delete to get into the BIOS, do the flash as per instructions. Reboot again.
5. Load the i54400.cmo profile as per instructions.
6. Follow the overclocking instructions on the first page (i thought the profile would do this, but for me it didnt).

That should be it, this PC is lightning compared to my old one (i5 2400k) and i couldnt be more impressed.

So in my grand stupidity I went ahead and order the bundle WITHOUT looking at the size of the motherboard and now have a case that is TOO SMALL. So could someone recommend a casing from the Overclockers Store that it will fit.

As well as that I have a Corsair VS 550W '80 Plus' Power Supply, should that be okay with this motherboard and there before mentioned GeForce GTX 970?

Apologies for the multiple questions

ARGH, so I've built, done the bios, made the OC settings and I get a blue screen when it tries to boot the Win 10 disk. I've disconnected my Samsung 850 EVO SSD and tried again and it's fine.

Faulty drive or do I need something else in place? I'm sure the other one of these I've built was fine with an Evo.

In the midst of building the computer the Cooler and I am stumped when it comes to the fan for the cooler. Which side does it go on?

As close to the middle of the case as possible, mine looks like this from left to right,

Back of Computer : Case Fan: couple of inches: Cooler: CoolerFan

Does that make sense?

If not, it looks like this (but with different fans obviously)
