From watching the "path to 9/11" I think it seems the US government were caught in a web of there own red tape and protocol which prevented a serious attack on terrorism in the first place. I have no doubt that the it was quite within the power that 9/11 could have been prevented..

It was evident that no one in US office wanted to take responsibility for giving the go ahead for attacking “al Quaeda” networks and training camps without selfishly thinking of their own consequences. The only person who could give the go-ahead was the president himself and his own judgement was unreliable following the Monica Lewinsky ordeal. Surely, if his judgment was that undermined then why was he in office.

I think the whole ordeal just showed how that political correctness wins the day and for the Americans, it cost them 1,000s of lives.

Interesting quote from the film that the head of security said that the US government were preventing him from protecting his own country and he didn’t know who the real terrorist were.

My belief is that OBL is still alive and the intelligence agencies know exactly where he is. I’m sure they are keeping an eye on him so as to keep track of him and his activities. Better this than to have unknown replacement. As the old saying goes.. keep your best friends close but your enemies closer..

What about something in-between those two views, which is that a small number in the US government knew that something huge was gonna happen but kept quiet because they needed their 'catalysing event' in order to pursue their foreign policy goals.

I voted conspiracy theory but what dirtydog has posted is what I actually believe.
 
There should be another category which is 'Brilliant planning by Al Qaeda'.
Nobody could have prevented it at the time but its nice to see that the political correctness they had then has now gone.
It also gave an excuse for America to invade Afghanistan for their massive oil reserves.

At leat its not as bad as the US where 36% believe government officials "either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action to stop the attacks because they wanted the United States to go to war in the Middle East." And the same poll found that 12 percent of Americans believe a cruise missile fired by the U.S. military caused the damage at the Pentagon.

Maybe we should move to Canada where only 20% are tinfoil hat wearing lunatics.

Tbh who really cares whether it was the American govt behind the 9/11 attacks...cant really see the point of having a poll for it either...not like its going to solve anything is it??. I await the outcome of this poll though, lets see if the mad bad OCUK crew can villify the american govt and perhaps get Bush locked up:p.

Shame theres no option for who really gives a toss in the poll.

I am interested in who is thinking the same as me as in terrorists succeeded in doing what they did without Government or agency assistance. There seems to be many 9/11 theories about elaborate conspiracies and I do not believe any of them.

I think you are asking an awful lot for an american gov't to willfully kill 3000 of it's own citizens. Not to mention to strike at it's economic heart.

Wether there was a group of people that were planning on a strategy to exploit such an attack if/when it happened... I find quite plausable. I would think it amazingly short sighted if there were not plans of how best to turn this kind of attack back on those that perpertrated it. To suggest however that they would go out of their way to cause it by overt innaction/encouragement I find difficult to believe.

Do I think that to a large extent US foreign policy had a part to play in them getting attacked in this way? Yes. Wasn't Bin Laden trained and funded by the US when it suited them? I think they have stomped with very heavy feet over people that would innevitably take whatever means they could to strike back.
 
Whatever people believe, it's a constant wonder to me that a fool like George Doubleya manages to remain in power. The guy's a total incompetent and can barely string a sentence together. How he is allowed to preside over the US is just beyond me. Entirely.
 
Consider the responses in this thread and then consider a hypothetical world where a few rich elites did actually pull all the strings, using their puppet governmental rulers to purposely create problems and then offer tailored made solutions to further their financial/political agendas with little regard for 'inferior' human life. Not too hard is it? :p

In any case I do recommend the 9/11 Press For Truth Video, its pretty basic and IMHO just scratches at the surface of a much wider issue, but it at least raises some glaring problems with the official report, plus it only uses evidence thats available directly from the bible... ummm... mainstream media. :o

I think it might be part of a joke by the powers that be, you know seeing how far the masses can be pushed with in your face stupidity, it seems quite a lot!

That's where I saw some cracking bits of film with GWB struggling to string a sentence together.
 
I don't know if this has been said but the word "conspiracy" is just such a borad term.

I believe that they may well have had knowledge about what was to happen - but not that they blew the buildings up themselves...

*edit* Looks like DD has already said this and I agree with him - it's all a bit too "your either with us or with them".
