9/11: the Falling Man

the Esquire article is so wrong!

the description of him falling like an arrow, accepting his fate, not waggling his arms around.

The programme last night showed the rest of the photos of the guy.

I haven't watched it yet, thought the article was very thought-provoking as no doubt the programme was.

The last message from inside the building was from a mobile phone 3 minutes before it collapsed, they had time to do that so they had time to think which way they wanted to die...imo.

It's not whether they had time, it's whether they had a choice.

Try sticking your hand in a kettle of boiling water and see what way it goes. Don't really but you get my point?

In my opinion there is no way this can be considered suicide.

nearly brings a tear outseeing that again.
makes you so mad and makes you want a nuke dropping on iraq

Not sure who im more worried about, you or the people responsible for the attacks.

interesting program but i thought they strung it out a bit much, they seemed to spend an hour and 20 minutes describing how they found out it was the wrong guy then in the last 10 mins it was kinda like "oh and heres who it really was, possibly" *roll credits.

What i did find interesting was how much self control the media over there had at the time in not showing the bodies coming down. We're so used to seeing shots of their overly voeyeuristic news services that it made a nice change to know theres some people with morals over there.

As far as the photographer goes, i think he did the right thing and recorded what was happening there. Although comapre that to the papparazzi who took pics of Diana in the car wreck and its completely the opposite. Why i dunno, but its two totally different feelings.

If we could all just ignore this comment and move on, maybe the thread won't implode. It's been a good one so far.

sod off, just because i think those people should pay for what theyve done doesnt make my thoughts "wrong". maybe your also ignorant of the fact the majority of that country were cheering that the usa got attacked, that the uk got attacked (london) and our people were kidnapped and beheaded

And thats a good enough reason to nuke a country is it?? If anything i think you should bloody sod off. people like u make me sick to the bone. Just because a few of their countrymen think its ok to do things like doesnt mean the whole country is behind them, mind you most of the supporters are illiterate idiots anyways..easily brainwashed into thinking killing innocent people is quite ok.

Yes, well done genius, but most of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, which is a whole other country to Iraq, so your original point is ignorant and ill-informed. Also, the London bombers were all British citizens, so I don't see what that has to do with it either.

Agreed, he is not insulting anyone, and anyway, when people make comments like that when it comes down to the reality of it they don't mean it in a literal since, its just a way of expressing there anger towards a particular situation, instead. try to understand basic human behavior instead of getting all hot and botherd and jumping into the deep end.

Thats because the main emphasis and semi conclusion on the story was that is was not important as to who the man in the photo was but rather what it represents.
