90's US sitcoms

Pub Fact - Red Dwarf had an attempted US a remake (only a pilot made) which starred the UK Kryten yet it still flopped so hard that the Pilot was never picked up.

Fun further fact, it had TWO US pilots made. Both failed.

Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens were fantastic. Loved the occasional crossover.

In my head Spin City was much earlier, but looking it up, it wasn't. Maybe it's just ELR is still on C4 in the mornings and I've not seen Spin City since it was on, I guess. Loved that though.

I don't think anyone has mentioned News Radio? Starred people like Joe Rogan, Stephen Root, Andy Dick, Phil Hartman... really good/funny TV.

Frasier, Cheers, Roseanne and Friends of course.

I loved almost all of those particularly News Radio, a non stop laugh fest, I still watch the occasional King of Queens and Frasier.
Spin City was great, but my wife wasn’t keen, she’d say, “You only get that show because you spent half your life in New York before we met.”
One that I was gutted when it was pulled was “Back to You”, Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton in a TV Channel news, weather etc show.

Seinfled is still king of sitcoms for me - still great after all these years.
it never really got any love in this country though - i remember having to tape it off bbc2 during the night just to watch it.

As well as the ones mentioned like Cheers, Frasier, Everybody loves Raymond, Seinfeld etc I used to enjoy Married with Children

Good old Al Bundy

Agreed, although it can appear a tad dated now, but it’s top drawer writing and cast will keep it right up there for me.
I think that if it didn’t get the love here it was because it was a little too American for British tastes if you know what I mean.
I think that a lot of Brits don’t get U.S. political in-jokes and references so they probably tend to either not switch on or change channels if Seinfeld came on, and God knows what a lot of Brits made of VEEP.

I've tried time and again over the years to "get" Seinfeld and I just dont find it even vaguely funny. I've watched all of seasons 1-5 in an effect to see if it will click and there isnt a single time that its made me laugh out loud. I find the US Office hilarious, Parks and Rec hilarious, absolutely love Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and imo Cheers is the greatest sitcom ever (the Diane years anyway) but Seinfeld.. just nothing.. not even a giggle out of me

It’s not mandatory to like a show that gazillions of average to well educated U.K. males find hilarious, or at the very least, find to be well written and acted by a superb cast, who knows, maybe you’re right and the rest of us are out of step?
There are programmes that I like and that my wife will go for a walk rather than watch, conversely she’ll drop everything to watch shows about selling or renovating houses, I’d rather slam my fingers repeatedly in the kitchen door.
It’s the age old “one man’s meat is another man’s poison” syndrome.

Its definitely written well and consistent in its story arcs, its also very well acted. Its just not funny (imo)

married with children

also the one with that steve urko nerd?? his catch phrase was "did i do that" cant remember show name

Steve Urkel, “Family Matters”, I only ever saw it in the U.S., didn’t like it much and was glad when my girlfriend’s brother switched channels, “Married with Children” was a whole lot better in my opinion.
