970's having performance issues using 4GB Vram - Nvidia investigating

Uploading 1080p in SLI with no AA or AO. I'll add it to that post soon.

It seems clear to me that the card is going over the 4gb vRam, and the removal of AA and AO does exactly what Gregster predicted.

Remember, a single 970 doesn't have much chance with this game with full eye candy @ 1080p let alone any higher resolution. The game itself advises 6gb with the ultra textures.

So far it seems this doesn't make a significant difference, perhaps it's just that for the first time games are demanding more than 4GB thanks to all these console ports and high res texture packs.

Tried Unity with TXAA to push the card and the hitching was really bad. FPS ranged from 32-44. GPU-Z reported 3400-3537mb vram load so it seems that it won't show anything above that. The question is whether the last 0.5gb isn't actually being used or GPU-Z just doesn't show it being used.

The second most powerful card in the 9x0 line-up is too weak to use TXAA. Nice;p Anyways, I just started noticing very small hitches from time to time even on standard FXAA... Either I didn't pay enough attention before or they just weren't there. Hope it's only due to Unity being a broken mess.

yeh its pretty hard to prove much with unity! do you play any other games? :)
i guess those messages above were redundant

This does appear to be the million dollar question, and one I've yet to see any irrefutable definitive evidence answering.

Later, I'll max out the settings on SOM and play through a section rather than benchmark. If it's not showing the massive fps dip then I'll put it down to the last 0.5 being used but not showing.

To date, I've never seen any one post details of how they managed to replicate this elusive fps dip.

Well, I'm currently playing Sleeping Dogs and FC4;p FC4 stutters by design so it's not a good benchmark either;p The latest patch made it a lot better though so I guess I'll try it with TXAA just for the hell of it.

I am installing SoM and will see what shows for me on GTX Titans.

Too late.:D

I have just done the same

All SoM benchmarks done with max settings
