Doesnt come out well compared to the 3870x2, especially in vista. Bear in mind this was tested with beta drivers though.

They get a fairly decent overclock considering how hot the thing runs: 726 core, 1815 shaders, 2386 mem.

Daft not keeping the CPU clock the same though.

Results seem to range from just beating the X2 to complete spankage (2-3 times faster)

I currently have 2x8800gtx's (ocuk jobs) and am thinking of adding a 3rd for Tri-Sli seeing as prices are dropping. I wonder how this would compare to a quad gpu GX2 setup. I expect like the quadfire X2 setup, the 4th gpu would not be used much at all currently.

And once again NVIDIA sets its self on top of the graphics card performance pile.

AMD is able to keep up with 3x (or more) 3870 cards in Oblivion, but everywhere else it's the 9800 GX2 on top. As far as single card solutions, the 9800 GX2 is currently the alpha dog.

The GX2 is the new single card two beat in terms of performance now, not surprising really. Shocking performance of three X2 cards in XFIRE though, even the 9600's in SLI put it to shame, now who said XFIRE scales better than SLI.
