A Battlefield 2142 thread

I think this is the more boring game iv ever played, i would rather play wolfenstein 3d, i cant think of one good thing about this 'game' played for about an hour and dont think ill play it ever again..

I mean the whole unlocks thing is stupid, i mean imagine in like a couple of months times when loads of people have all these unlocks,nades,extra health,extra sprint blah blah blah its going to be even worst for noobs. Infact iv played bf2 a lot and i found this game very confusing and very very boring and its pretty much the same thing! I tottally understand why people have been calling it a mod, its just a glorified bf2 imo.

I think the voices in this game are also very bad, are they trying to make them sound english? because they just sound like idiots (i could think of a better word but swearing isnt allowed ;)


If they bring out Infantry only mode then i MIGHT think about playing this game, untill then i belongs in the bin.

I can think of a lot more things that are rubbish but cba tbh, this game was a waste of time and so is moaning about it..
 
Ive just been playing it, like the changes they have made, like getting points from ammo crates now

Couple of bad points had sound on ulta high with cratuve x-fi and it gave me a BSOD and for some reason the game kept minimizing for some reason while i was trying to type in *** command for the fps.
 
Can't even play this game for more then 30 seconds. Everything is fine until I get ingame, then it crashes to desktop :(

One thing i did notice though is how much slower the soldiers run.Im not sure if its because the maps are more open then bf2, but seems they all run slower particularly the Support class.
 
I'm agreeing with the 'dull' and 'unimaginative' verdicts. It's either a really overpriced mod or a below-average full game, I can't decide.
 
I figured out why the game was crashing every 30 seconds.It was because I needed to disable VOIP for some reason as someone mentioned earlier in the thread.

I played it for a good while and I quite like it, although I can see it getting boring quite fast.I played on the titan map and I enjoyed sitting in the titan guns and taking potshots at the enemy :D.

One thing that felt like a huge step up from Bf2 was the sound. I really felt like I was in a full scale battle ,especially when the enemy was boarding our titan. But, after I got over how good the sound was , the game started to feel a little bit too much like BF2 and I could feel myself wavering a bit.
 
I just played for about an hour and personally I think it is a nice improvement/change compared to BF2. I do agree with those people calling it a glorified mod but I still found it enjoyable. Will probably spend some more time with the demo over the weekend but my current thoughts are I will be looking to pick this up towards the end of the month.
 
Had my first go on this just now. It's not that bad but it feels very sluggish. The graphics are quite ugly, although that might just be the map on the demo. Everything was very brown and hard to see, and the UI doesn't make it that clear whats going on. The weapons seemed to lack ummph and accuracy.

I only got to defend the titan (my team wer crap!) and didn't really get a go in the walkers or attack hover-vehicles, but the transport chopper fly felt just like the transport chopper in BF2.

Maybe it will get better the more we play it, but I was playing some Road to Jellalabad this morning and it was so much more fun...

I've only played a few mins, and I'm enjoying it.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but if like me your monitor's native res wasn't supported. Edit video.con in the
\My Documents\Battlefield 2142 Demo\Profiles\
directory.

Ok found the file, but what do you use to edit the file?

I want to be able to play at 1680x1050 res
 
To get my widescreen res all ive done is mod the shortcut on the desktop to add in ''+menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900''

"D:\Installed Games\BF2142 Demo\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

just change the numbers to your res and away you go!!!

im really enjoying this game until i decided to leave a server to try a titan mode and apparently im banned from all the servers for tk which i have never done :p

that bug was in the beta it happened to me as well. i think it fixes itself after a bit
 
I played the demo via EA Downloader for a couple of hours last night and have to say Im seriously dissapointed. I have followed the Battlefield series since Battlefield 1942, Secret Weapons of World War Two, Road to Rome etc, Battlefield Vietnam and at the moment i play Battlefield 2, Special Forces, Armoured Fury and Euro Forces. I have pre-ordered this game at a local game store and will still purchase it in the faint hope that the game will be a major improvement over the demo,,,,,,but iI doubt it. I think EA have bit off more than they can chew this time and I also think more people will stick to Battlefield 2. Did you know that once 2142 is out EA are supposed to be dropping support for BF2(patch making etc). I read this on another forum from someone who say they work for EA. They should have fixed BF2 before they released 2142 at least. I often get stressed out with BF2 and the idiotic patches and bugs but I'd rather play BF2 anyday rather than 2142.

Yeah, that worked a treat. Same thing I have to do with BF2. Why didn't I think to do that in the first place? :rolleyes:
