A Battlefield 2142 thread

Am I missing a trick with the C4?

Some guy kept throwing C4 and detonating them almost instantly, and he always survived the blast even if he was right on top of it. :confused:

Battlefield 2142 v1.40 Beta Patch Released

The future Highway Tampa is here! Download the 2142 version of the newest Battlefield map brought to you by Intel and EA DICE then jump into the 1.4 beta. Featuring Titan and Dual Assault Lines this map focuses on classic Battlefield vehicle warfare with a futuristic twist. In Dual Assault lines each team can capture the enemies’ home base by controlling all of the neutral points. Whether you choose to skillfully coordinate your mechanized assault or dominate through overwhelming force Highway Tampa is the newest home of all out warfare.

• Fixed an exploit that would allow commanders to call Orbital and EMP strikes before it had fully recharged.
• The Clark RDX Shotgun can now detonate other nearby explosives.
• EU Assault Rifle recoil and deviation have been slightly reduced.
• Bianchi and Shuko LMGs recoil reduced.
• Clark Shotgun rate of fire increased.
• Added an autosave to kit customisations. After you customise a kit and spawn in with that kit, the customisation will be automatically saved until you change it and spawn in again. Note that you must spawn in with a particular kit for it to be saved.
• Added a new map, Highway Tampa.

With the BF2 map beta option it was an option .. ie. you didnt have to install it ... though with BF2142 am I corret in saying you have to install this as its the beta map built in with a new patch (1.4) ? Yeah / No ?

BTW Ive been on playing some games this morning (around a 100 servers showing) and earned a few points ... will these be added if I aint patched yet :confused:
 
Just went out and bought 2142 and NS, installed and updated to the 1.40 beta patch, theres only 3 servers I can see.

Have I made a sill booboo by installing a beta patch? Will I now need to reinstall and find the patch before the 1.40? (Which would be?)

Do it in this order:
Install, NS, Patch 1.25.

If you install the patch before NS you'll only have to re-apply the patch afterwards. At least that's what happened to me.
 
The dying bug while already dead is annoying. I'll be dead then an orbital strikes hits so i'm killed again before respawning.

i was getting annoyed with my team the other day (sorry :D)
zero revives for me despite me rezzing my team all the time. Its more annoying because after i die after fighting some enemy they always revive each other JESUS!! I kill maybe 2 of them and the guy who kills me always revives the others crikes! God is mocking me!

so apart from that i wasnt greatly impressed with our commander (i didnt **** him off this time though) so i go commander next round....

Just want to check with you experts on what a good commander should do

i usually use the scanning button a lot then in areas with most enemy i slap down a UAV.
If i spot a walker i will highlight him for my team and then ill try and take him out with emp and orbital strikes. Of course ill highlight enemy vehicles and enemy trying to be sneaky as well :)
Apart from that im sending squads to capture different points and dropping supply pods.
Anything else i should do?

yes u made a mastake don't worry about it unstall the game and reintall the patch straight to 1.25 then install ns and then repatch 1.25 so it updates the new ns maps u can run the beta 1.40 along with the 1.25 it involves making a copy of your 2142 folder and renaming it to backup or what ever you want tehn install the 1.40 patch that will patch 1 copy of the game and to swap between version just rename the folders

I downloaded the 1.40 patch today and its a load of poo and so is highway tampa. The patch only allows u to play on highway tampa servers only and you it causes the game to crash once you start playing. The map is farrrrr toooo bigggg. It has to be the biggest map in 2142 and theres not a lot in the map. There is the odd building or 2 around the silos, the rest is just flat open land that is easy to get shot on. There are practically no hiding places so prepare to get rinsed by the guy in the attack dragoon overhead .

Highway tampa looks like it was put together in days and not much thaught has gone into it. Stay on v1.25!!!!

crikey just had a 6 hour session on bf2142 on cerbere.... this game is too addictive...i dont even really like it!!!

One thing thats weird. How come when the enemy has a Walker no one on our team can kill it but when we have a walker it lasts all of 7 seconds under enemy fire. :(
