A battlefield2 thread

i got fed up tonight, trying out being an engineer, Laid mines and then your own team members just drive over them and you get a negative score, got on my wick a bit. Still enjoying the game though. Not playing anything else at the moment. Just BF2, which is just great. Hate artillary though, Dont know where to look as a engineer to see what needs doing to mount my points up

Engie is the hardest class to get points, by FAR!!

I play it quite a bit, best way is to get in a vehicle team, one person in each team being an engie. then you can attack places, and repair each other at the same time. One thing i often do is get in a jeep and follow a couple of APCs or Tanks into battle, hiding behind them for cover, and repairing them as they get ATed. Also fix your teams resources whenever you get a chance.

Easy way to rack up some reapair points is in the back of a blackhawk, just constantly repairing.

Mines are pretty poor and your teammates stupidity doesn't help matters. Problem is most people assume they are C4 and happily drive over them. It's very good sneaking up on an enemy tank though and throwing a mine on top. It explodes when they try to move, very satisfying.

best way to get points as an engineers, drive a tank or apc, on kharkand as mec, keep your amrour together and you can get lots of points.

to get the f2000, you need special forces and to have played it. you need the G3 unlocked already, then when you get your next unlock the F2000 will appear, its a good weapon, sooo accurate on single shot.

My teamwork score recently shot through the roof. On that map with a Middle Eastern burnt out town that MEC controls and the US has to storm (what's its name?) someone was spamming grenades in an alleyway and I was ressing people all over the shop. Plenty of deaths as well though :(

Sounds like Strike at Karkand and I know exactly where you mean - little courtyard with some crates in and the alleyway leads to the Hotel flag. It is a right mine fest there all the time. Like you say a Medic will rack up loads of points there for healing/reviving but your kill to death ratio takes a real pounding. I love that map though

is there any way to smooth the sniper scope movement? it seems to be limited to very blocky movement and its causing me a lot of PIA trying to get kills with the unlocked gun :(

I think in options, you can alter the mouse sensitivety (sp) settings. I dont use that as I have a mouse with different dpi settings, which i find very usefull for sniping situations.

Anyone else seen this on http://global.dice.se under press releases ?

The Battlefield 2 expansion pack planned to be launched during spring 2006 is now replaced by two booster packs. The change means slightly lower project revenues during the fourth quarter 2005 than during the third, due to a lower development budget. The anticipation though is that this will be compensated by higher royalty revenues during the first six month 2006.

The expansion packs in the Battlefield series have new maps, vehicles and weapons. Each Battlefield booster pack will have new but fewer maps, vehicles and weapons. Instead they are sold to a lower price: 9.99 USD. An expansion pack is usually sold at between 19.90 USD and 29.90 USD. Today at least two Battlefield 2 booster packs are planned for spring 2006.

tht sounds like great news, however, i will not be buying them if theyre released by download only. i hate that idea tbh.
but special forces got a retail release so fingers crossed

Same here, great news that more maps and stuff are on their way, but I would want to buy the CDROM retail pack in preference to a download.

Well i would like it free. Like a lot of games out there, take CS:S for eg, you dont pay for it, it just updates new things all the time. I like that way of thinking. If i buy the expansion pack at £20 then i will have spent £55 on a game, which to me, is quite a bit of money, thats half the money towards buying a dedicated sound card which i need.
But i dont like the sound of a download you pay for, what happens if you have to reformat your pc etc ?

I would hope it downloads in a format that could back-up before installing, like an auto-extracting .exe file or similar - from what I've heard from people that used the EA downloader for SF, it's no where near as complex as Steam currently.

i just prefer to have it physically sitting on my shelf. theres the resale value if needs be too and it just 'feels' better to actually buy and own something rather than just buy a download.

Here comes the onslaught of expations to feed the EA machine :'(

Special forces was a disapointment for me, stealth not acctually being a part of it (if you have the settings on low then shadows arnt acctually addded to the textures of the enemy characters so if there in a shadow they can still be clearly seen). A few new maps and 5 new guns, I just wasnt impressed.

But there are people who liked it and will buy the expations so I will see what they think :) Hopefully they will add some great new things into the game and if thats the case im sure it will be a hit!

EDIT: on the subject of downloading or buying, if they make a steam like program it would be good but hopefully we wont have a steam like program for every games company, I hope some of them do deals with steam team and just put there products on there instead of me having to open such and such a program just to update or download my game. Although I do like having a games case and CD with manuals (Even tho these days they are painfully empty, bring back the days of SWAT 2 with the 1inch thick manuals!), downloading a game and having it ready to go without even leaving the house just beats it for me.

the best thing to do as engineer is plant the bombs on a vehicle for instance, on the roof of a bhawk by the rotors (they'll never see it there) or in a car where your feet go
they move and boom points ahoy. think, 6 people stack in a heli, moves, bang 6 kills
EDIT: this game is doing my head in now, I NEED MORE RAM every now and then (this is the only way i can describe it) the screen goes dodgy like if it was made of paint then you spun it around on your finger swirling the colours together

Think he does.

Anyone got any tips on getting a lowly basic explosive badge - never seem to get more than 8 kills when going for this. Eliot's tactic could work - 2 or 3 full BH's would be enough...

Most of the other badges seem easy in comparison.

The pistol and knive badge i am slowly trying to get (in a round) not easy! especially if your a engineer with that stupid shotgun thats as much use as a kettle made of ice!

Since i have been learning this game. I always seem to spawn in the middle or artillary fire. Got 2 purple hearts. Oh dear oh dear, well things can only get better.........
