A battlefield2 thread

I got my meritous unit award in a game yesterday but its not actually shown up in my stats, will I have to try and get it all over again?

Just wait a bit and it should appear eventually. I've never missed out on an award I've got ingame even if I got disconnected before the end of the round.

Is OcUK not going to be used now ? Saw someone playing with the prefix last night (he was highest scoring as well), or is the KbW a 'proper' clan and OcUK a loose tag kind of thing (God I'm rambling here aren't I.....)
I'm FlashHeart by the way in BF2, usually found propping up the scoring table.....

yeah pretty much will be using =KbW=

Not sure if i will continue to play the game anymore. Can be quite frustrating getting killed all the time with other guys killing me with one shot when i shoot at them and they kill me first!!

I know how you feel, had a go on the 50K server tonight and felt like a total waste of space, getting slaughtered by tanks and aircraft as soon as I spawned.....

I think BF2 has reached a point where newbies now have real trouble getting into the game and enjoying it, if your not squaded with decent people, then I'm sure it can be very disheartning and fustrating as you will get killed a lot by the vets.

My tip, when you join a server, look at the leaderboard, see whos top, and if there's room, join their squad. Then you can just follow em around, picking off the scraps that these people leave behind, its certainly the best way to learn too.

I leave no scraps

:p

Ive had no problems with the 1.4 beta so far, although there has been talk that if you are medic and have shock paddles out then you are apparently invincible...

The map is quite fun to play, it definitely resembles Mashtur and Sharqi. A lot of the action goes on between the Junkyard, Hotel with the plane in and the alley ways in between. In these areas its pretty much infantry only as there isnt a lot of space for tanks, and if they do go down them then they should be easy prey for AT/Spec Ops.

There were only 3 servers running the 1.4 beta, and they had map rotation on, so you dont get to play the new map that much.

If you have the disk space then just create a copy of the BF2 folder and then install the patch, then create links to each bf2.exe so you can play either one when you like.

I luckily joined a sqaud with a Colonel and a General (didnt notice at the time, just joined one) on Iron Gator and had a fantastic round as MECSF running round the ship. In total there were around 4-5 of us in the squad just going from flag to flag, and we had the right mix of classes, a few medics, support and assault etc to keep going.

When you get games like that its really enjoyable and you cant be beaten (Im not that great but overall the squad was fantastic) and it shows how well teamwork works in the game.

Thing is, that is cheating as you are relying on others to carry you. I may get killed loads of times in a game but i am slowly learning. The only thing that i am not good at, amongst other things, is when i come face to face with someone and they 'ALWAYS' get me first!!

What is: MECSF

its not cheating at all monkeybutt, this game IS 99% about team work. does my head in seeing people not in squads, UNLESS your Special forces perhaps, You need team work,
It used to be even better before the last update patch, as if you were squad leader and dies you could quickly leave and rejoin so that your squad wherever you were on the map would still be all there together.

Seriously, find a good server, (50klicks) are very good, no fools are tolerated there, they quickly get booted. Join a squad and see how it is done, Its a different game when your in a good squad trust me.

You must find a good server though, as some of the EA ones are just idiots on them, that will TK for vehicles etc.

.

heh i heard about that, the shock paddles instantly heal you

Hah, well Ive yet to see/try it but when I'll keep an eye out, should be interesting.

MECSF = MEC Special Forces

Teamplay != cheating, working as a squad to get things done is the point of the game, there is no way you could capture flags etc on your own against another team.
