My tip, when you join a server, look at the leaderboard, see whos top, and if there's room, join their squad. Then you can just follow em around, picking off the scraps that these people leave behind, its certainly the best way to learn too.

i get that a lot ppl join my squad just as i have the highest score, thing is it puts me off as i start to concentrate on keeping my squad alive so i dont do what i do best, yes its nice to have ppl in ** squad to help capture the flags but sometimes u get real numpties joining.

Well, have had enough of the game now. Only had it a couple days too!!!
Going to wait till i get access to the members market and sell the game.

If you want to see instant positive results then learn to whore something, tanks/claymores on karkand or warlord and jets on wake are popular to get lots of kills/points.

The chances of it happening to you if you join for the odd game have to be pretty remote unless you get unlucky and there is one killjoy who makes good on his "I'll cry like a little bitch to EA about you guys" threat.

You get your stats reset for playing on a server that doesn't allow armour?

What have EA been smoking? That makes no sense at all, as the next patch is introducing that as a server option...

just had a few games on that 50k server and didnt think much of the squad/teams why do you get idiots playing squad leader and staying in a plane or helo, this happened a few times its a waste of a team imo anyone know of any good servers where people play as good squads as i'm a good player

At the moment yes, the RoE states that you cannot restrict a players use of weapons (eg Knife/Pistol servers) or vehicles (eg kicking for using armour or planes) Granted, the chance of getting caught is minimal. But all it takes is someone flicking through the browser, or a member of BFROE seeing it, joining the server and taking a screenshot of the scoreboard.

And the Infantry Only mode isnt set in stone, its flawed in its current Beta state and would be rebalanced to cut down on any stats imbalance (Kicking for vehicles isnt) In its current form they have pished around with the Health, Decreased Weapon damage and certain other stuff which simply doesnt work. Instead we are now asking for a 'Vehicle Lite' option where all armour/planes are replaced by jeeps, Attack helos with transport helos etc (therefore AT and Engineer still have some use, whereas they wouldnt if there were NO vehicles at all)

Ive been arguing for IO option against some pretty stiff opposition on certain BF2 forums and i signed the thread//poll over at Bf2RankedServers which is what intially prompted EA to think about adding this, looks like some of the anti brigade are coming round to the idea tho so we can but hope.

Its 11am and theres, oooooh 7 50K people online out of the usual 50/60 regulars. Come back in the evening and actually join a squad with 50k people instead of randoms.

Just jeeps seems the way to go from my point of view.
Would be great to have 64 man infantry battles on large maps but we definetly need plenty of jeeps to bomb around in and to bomb/AT etc...
I don't like the sound of them pishing around with health and damage though that sounds well off.
It just needs an option available to have ranked servers running with only infantry not a load of other rubbish.
I really don't and will never understand why they pish around with the core of the game.

My thoughts exactly. It would be perfect with just jeeps and armoured cars, but if they start messing around with weapons and health I'm going to be quite unhappy.

Its only an option, you dont have to play it if you like vehicles you can carry on playing normal BF2. Infantry Only is far more condusive of teamwork and requires far more skill than parking your tank next to an alleyway and raping away. Obviously it wont work to well on larger open maps like Zatar where the whole point of those maps is the vehicles, but for Karkand, Mash, Sharqi and the new road to Jalalalalalalalalalalalalalba it will be superb.

As above, I also found it to make for much better teamwork, a tank can quite happily mow down a whole squad, but in infantry only if you go it alone you end up in real trouble against an organised squad. You can work together to outflank enermy positions and the games tend to be really fast and furious.

I play assualt class and most of my time is on foot, but I still think the option to have the use of armour is better for the game, granted infintry only will probably suit clans more than just casual pick up and play gamers like myself and yeah it does get annoying when armour whores sit and spawncamp you, so maybe it will be better, but then it will just be grenade spam and claymore spam wont it? lol

Ive ordered bf2 deluxe edition after my CD cracked and comes with BF2 and SF. Was a lot cheaper compared to buying them seperately. Ive never played SF before are there a lot of servers? is it still popular?

The game has hit a low atm, lots of people getting disconnects and servers crashing atm. Which is why there is a beta patch atm. Rockets still pass through vehicles, which was the case in BF1942 also.

If people cant stay connected for more than 5min it wont have much of a playerbase left.

BTW, America's Army v3.0 will be released soon which and support for vehicles apparently. The infantry combat is a lot more precise and detailed, more like ut2004 physics, which isnt surprising since its built on the same engine. v3.0 will be using ut2007s engine, and the game is completely free too.

Personally i think the infantry only option will be very popular. Just look at how popular the street maps are at the moment.
I love working on the streets rather than in a vehicle as the battles are intense. On Kark going down the right or left flank with my PKM and a gang of lads is superb. Give them the old Nade rain first to clear the way then its virtually hand to hand in those jittys. Capping flags on foot or defending them on foot is definetly the best buzz. For me at the moment my top buzz is defending flags. You have these gangs of lads steaming about in jeeps trying to capp flags all wearing there pretty clan tags and i blow them up. It's great to see your name in the top left corner of the screen with say 3 in a row all tagged up and Dead.
Mowing folk down with a well layed PKM and a few nades feels top where as blowing someone 30 foot in the air with a tank shell although hilarious feels wrong. If i am in armour i am constantly chasing after the enemy armour and watching out i don't squish any friendly trooper. When on foot i am constantly running around seeking out folk to kill without a care in the world. this is when i am most happy.
Another thought is that when the maps rotate it would be much fairer to allow those troopers to get there revenge on whoever was whoring the armour in the previous round.
I love it when i can get my hands on the pilots from a previous round when it rotates to a non air map. The ******* usually leave after you have teabagged them a few times but revenge is such a sweet pleasure and BF2 is made for the sweet smell of revenge.

Saying all that i would not be without my armour on certain maps whether i am in it commanding it or calling it to help me out. I love BF2 in all its glory and just want options added. I do Not want anything taken away.
Can't be hard for folk to just look down the server list see what they fancy and go for it. Some days all i want is to fly, others a bit of tanking but mainly these days it's footing it. I want choices Not restrictions.

Well im almost 90% certain it will be ranked, a BF2ROE director let slip on a BF2 message board that they ROE (rules for RANKED servers) have been changed to account for Infantry Only, then went back and edited his post after he had presumably been told to change it. Im not saying they might come about turn and change it to unranked.

But if its unranked, they may as well not bother as very few people play unranked servers.
