A battlefield2 thread

moo! just got BF2 clocked up 52 points..only so far. I need to know the best settings for my pc:

2500+AMD XP @stock
512mb ram
128MB nVidia 6800GT

Also how many 50 klicks servers are there? i see one but i think its for special forces.
 
Good cpu and gpu but thats the bare minimum for ram so I advise low settings, mainly low textures or your'll get jerky lag on large servers.

Theres 3 servers


3dmark06 just told me there was a december update to directx 9c..

All low / some medium at the moment due to lack of RAM.

Add 1-2GB of RAM in there and medium/high
 
cheers for that people. Im finding it really hard to gain some points here :( i suck so bad the most ive got so far in a round is 14points and i usually get 6 or so. Haven't had the game for too long though.

While I'm here, a friend of mine is having some problems with his audio on BF2, when he loads up a game, usually on Karkand he says he has an issue where seemingly every sound from the map is played on his speakers, e.g. if their's an artillery strike the other side of the map he can hear it as if it's next to him etc.

Any ideas?

Soundcard is his onboard Soundstorm.

Tell him to make sure audio is set to software.
 
Played a bit of SF. Man the SAS voices and winning music as sooo bad.

Still waiting on the SF unlocks too...

Oh and I played on some other servers today, where I kicked butt. Five minutes on 50k and I was back at the bottom of the table!

Be a medic or support, Join a squad, always spawn on the squad leader, follow him everywhere, follow instructions, capture flags, drop med packs or ammo packs, you'll soon be getting 30+ points a round easy, even if you cant kill anyone.

your spec is the same as mine, bar the ram... i would double that for starters, i have 1gig of mem, works ok. Lots of people with say use 2gig which i'm sure would help, but you have to weigh up the cost and how much you play the game.

i know it was a silly qestion, i always play on ranked servers, when you apply the filter 'ranked' you sometimes get servers up that don't have any mention of being ranked, just wondered if was think right.. just 100 points off being a staff seg! woo!
 
Some people say 1.5 gigs is enough, I get 1.3gig peak ram used on all high settings so I think thats maybe true

If you have the ASUS 6800GT/TD thing then you have pretty much the same specs as me apart from im running 1gb RAM. On the top half of the GFX settings im runnign medium, and then the lower half low/off and it gives a nice look to the game, while keeping ti running OK. Also running on 2x AA.

The browser is buggered right now, I hearthey are fixing it with the patch tho!

They fixed it with the first patch, and then broke it with the fix for the first patch lol

This reminded my of the CPH stat on bf2s.com. Cost per hour. Mine is something like 28cents per hour I played but that doesnt include the cost of the PC itself. Just spent nearly £160 upgrading rudimentary things like Im getting the enermax 500w modular silent psu, logitch x-530 speakers and g5 lazer mouse. It all adds up...

I was running 1Gb and the jump to 1.25Gb was a lot of difference, but Ive got 2Gb now, was hoping that loading would be faster. I usually am one of the first people on server but on 50klicks on gulf of Oman; I spawned at the rightmost MEC spawn and I couldnt believe I had a enemy tank sitting there ready to kill me as a sniper. I am 99% of the time an AT guy... This guy said he had 4Gb ram. However it only took me at about 30seconds to load the map and I cant believe he had enough time to leave his carrier (I presume) and camp my spawn. Wish I remembered his name.

He was trying to justify it saying he had a good pc but mine is high spec too, things like that just mean that to have a level playing field eveyone has to use all the bugs possible.
 
Say you want the special forces medic weapon, you must first inlock the Battlefield 2 medic gun.

Say you want the special forces support weapon, you must first unlock the battlefield 2 support weapon.

etc.
