A battlefield2 thread

mate just use the bf2 mini image... someone else xfire'd me saying it was taking 2 days to get the dvd image. lmfao

it takes 5 seconds over xfire. mine is rdhsharpshot add me if you want the image. and you need daemon tools or alcohol to mount it

Anyone managed to get the game to run at 1900x1200? every time i try i crashes on the splash screen. thats if i change the file in my documents and the target of the short cut.

As far as I am aware it should work, Have you entered the screen size parameters into the shortcut itself. I cant remember off the top of my head how to do it but either google it or wait till someone else tells you how.

Ummm, when I try to use numeric 8 number pad 8 for forward, it says that it's allready taken, when it aint, and it works for another control, but not forward, same for numeric 4 and numeric 6, if I cant get these to work I cant play the game, I'm left handed you see :(

Any idea how to fix this?

Do you mean 1920 x 1200 ?

Desktop Shortcut Properties :

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

Didn't work just changing the original install , I had to reinstall to get rid of the old resolution profiles etc.

Then just changed the Desktop short cut and it worked 1st time.

Exactly. When I tried changing that config file in mydocs, the game just wouldn't open at all for me. The above method is the only one I could get to work. Haven't had any problems since... other than figuring out how to get xfire to add it to it's shortcuts.

Yeah, it was crashing for me too, i finally got it working, and why 1920, my monitor runs 1900..

BF2:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 +ignoreAsserts 1

SF:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1

I think that ignore asserts at the end is what stops it crashing, now both load up at that res fine, they didn't without it even after a reinstall.

Anyone have any idea how to unlink keys num8,num2,num4 and num6? they seem to be secreatly binded to something and I dont know how to unbind then as they appear not to be binded to anything...

other than figuring out how to get xfire to add it to it's shortcuts.

You need to manually change a config. file in xfire.

Go to your Xfire folder > xfire_games ( Config Settings 380kb)

Open with notepad.

Scroll down to game number [4578] ( Battlefield 2)

And change the 8th line down - ( Launch= ) to this :

Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH%
_LAUNCHER_LOGIN_ARGS% +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200 +restart 1 UA_LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS%
_LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS%

Works for me.
