A beginners first build...

Here are some pictures I've put all the cables I don't need behind the case and all the ones I do need on the other side like the mobo power, gpu power and front panel lights and buttons.

When I get all the parts installed its just the case of trying to get all the cables out of site so there is good airflow. Think I've done ok for the antec 300 as it isn't a great case for cable mangment and I have a fan controller :)

Looks good, but since this is my first build i have no idea where to route all of the wires too as i dont know where the connectors will be:confused:

:D:D:D:D:D:D

Just switched it on...

SHE LIVES!!!

An absolutley huge thank you to everyone who has helped me on this thread, you have all been very patient and fantastic help!

Will post some shots when W7 is installed and i'll also do some benchmarking :D

It's all up and running now, it runs FSX fantastically.

One question, i've overclocked the CPU to 3.40GHz which was extremley easy, but in CPU-Z, it is only showing it as 803.5MHz

does anyone know why?

You've done well fella. Happy to see no gremlins found their way into the build ;p

My gf asked me the same question when i installed cpuz on her rig. Basically the cpu is just ticking over. Try playing a video (HD would be more intensive) and check the core speed again. You'll notice it increases as needed.

Maybe you could post a screen of fsx, show how well the machine renders the graphics. On a sidenote you might wanna download prime95 to help stress test the cpu for overclocking....just a thought

Yeah, i will download prime95 and test it. I will also post either a screenshot or video of FSX asap.

Just seeing your screenshot of your system and you appear to have installed the 32 bit edition of win7 can i ask why you did not get 64 bit as you have 4 gigs of ram installed?

Very observant;)

Yes, it only has 32bit installed as i had it lying around and i'm only using it for gaming. I might get the 64bit version though if i find the system running slow.

You can install either version of win 7 with the key??

Also, with 32bit and gaming you are not getting full benefit of your system as it can't access all your ram so you are actually limiting yourself.

FSX is only using about 1.5 gigs of my ram though, but if it does start to slow i will upgrade.

Now watercool it! Get another monitor too. :D

I'd love to but i have absolutley no money left now :(

Anyway, here is the video i promised...
