The 990FXA-UD7 motherboard is designed to offer a stable, high-speed platform for delivering amazingly fast data transfer via the GIGABYTE 333 onboard acceleration technologies. Featuring the USB3.0 controller, AMD 900 series motherboards allow users to take advantage of super fast USB transfer rates of up to 5Gbps, delivering 10x faster data transfer compared to USB 2.0. Utilizing the industry's first Serial ATA Revision 3.0 solution via AMD SB950 chipset, GIGABYTE AMD 900 series motherboards offer native 6 ports of next generation high speed data storage devices support with data transfer speeds of up to 6 Gbps with RAID 0, 1, 5, 10. The AMD 900 series motherboards introduce a unique hardware design with lower resistance fuses for ensuring lower voltage drops and providing more stable and plentiful power delivery. All USB ports also benefit from a 3x power boost for better power delivery to power hungry USB devices.

And guess which one is substantially more powerful and energy efficient?

A used i7 2600K and a good Z68 board will cost around half as much again, and will still be noticeably better.

That is the definition of bad value for money. In fact, this is so ridiculous that I am feeling genuine anger towards AMD for being such a bunch of hopeless, money-grabbing, desperate charlatans. This is a disgrace to the PC industry, and they should be ashamed of themselves. Over-reaction? I don't think so.

Hi there

That motherboard is the best board I've used, I achieved the best OC on both FX-9590 and FX-8350 using the UD7, glad to see its returned. :)

This is overclockers, we push the best of any brand no matter if their is better out their by another brand. if you want value then there are other companies that would jump on the dual core celeron wagon at £30 as their simply isnt anything with more bang per buck really.

Ferrari £200k
Supercharged 350Z £20k

Probably both as fast as each other but we all know we would go for the Ferrari just so you can say "I have a ferrari"

It may not represent good value but it certainly does represent what this community is made up of and thats the best that is on offer regardless of cost in some cases.

"The new FX9590, the best money you will ever waste. Perfect for those who get a kick out of getting ripped off by a major technology giant, or for fanboys with more money than sense, now at Overclockers UK!"

PM me the names of anyone who makes the collossal mistake of ordering one, and I will personally go to them, grab them by the shoulders and shake them until they admit that they are stupid.

Why are people are making such a fuss about the power consumption, as if it's any higher than a standard overclocked FX8350.

Its the price. The top end one costs £700. It's worth maybe £50 more than a regular FX-8350 at most.

Yeah, a 3970X isn't worth almost twice as much as a 3930K either.

This is a problem in an entirely different league. £150 up to £700 for a higher clock speed vs £450 up to £850 for a higher clock speed and more cache. (at least the damn design is different)

No, it's not in an entirely different league at all. You pay £400 extra for 300Mhz on the 3970X, and you pay £550 extra for 800Mhz on the FX.

The 3970X has slightly more cache yeah, but it won't make an appreciable difference in anything (prove me wrong).

I understand it's cool to hate on AMD, but come on.

I dont hate AMD, I have two AMD systems, but what I do hate is what they are doing. At a few points in time they were the dominant force in the consumer CPU market, but these days they are a joke.

They are neglecting what used to be their main customer base and dishing them up utter **** just because they are swimming in cash from the upcoming console war.

I bet the 8970 will be a 7970 with an overclock, a TDP twice as high, and a price to match Titan.

I have a 2500K that can run stable at 5GHz, and at that speed it will outperform this CPU. Do you want to buy it? I'm selling it for £1000............

Your rolling eyes isn't convincing.

So what are you going to do about it, protest?

Now you're just being silly.

Well judging by this release, it might not be that realistic because to me it looks like they have given up. This is a guarentee that Steamroller is going to be hopeless as well. They wouldn't release a CPU for £150 - £180 which is better than their £700 flagship a few months, or even a year afterwards would they?

- Damn.

- You can hardly say that I have no reason to hate on AMD now after this latest release.

- No, I am going to sit in the corner and cry. This is more of a one horse race than it has ever been before. One horse races are boring, and idiots still lose money by placing bets based on loyalty.

Reading your replies you sound like you're going to go on a crusade and change how they run things. Like as if it's going to make a difference.

Crucify someone that buys something without your approval, budget or not. Policing people on how they should think. How many years have these same things happened? and whats changed?
